High prices- Odd Dishes The dishes here are a chef's attempt to be "cutting edge." The fish choices were over prepared....to many ingredients... fish rolled in coconut, etc. [15 Apr 2006 12:34:31]

An Experience An extensive menu selection... not like most fine dining restaurants. Anything you might have an appetite for, they have... from steak to lobster to pasta to sushi to lamb. They also have a very large wine selection. It's just plain good food and a VERY friendly atmosphere. And don't be afraid to ask for something "specially ordered." If you don't like a certain sauce on a certain dish, just ask the chefs to prepare a different one for you, or pick a sauce from another item on the menu. It was truly an experience and I plan on going back many times. [17 Oct 2006 21:56:43]

Share the Love Metropolitan Grill is under relatively new management. A friend and I shared the "Love" entree which consisted of three (large) blackened scallops, grilled shrimp, and a 4 oz Tuna steak in a tequila lime sauce. The scallops and shrimp were excellent but the tuna was a little under-done, almost sushi style. (I don't mind sushi, so I didn't mind too much, but other patrons may not appreciate the bright red coloration of "rare" tuna.)
The service was courteous and attentative, prices reasonable, and the menu is nicely varied.
They've dropped their chocolate torte but they do have a "Chocolate Seduction Cake" which is pretty good. [04 Feb 2007 00:57:19]

Don't Bother The food is NASTY. The best thing I ate was the flash fried spinach appetizer, and it was EXCESSIVELY greasy. The A-LA Carte Caesar Salad is drowned in dressing, you can't taste anything else. The Petite Filet in Gorgonzola sauce was cooked correctly, but too much sauce. The sauce is to accent not take over the meat. NEVER order the Paella inspired Risotto. The meal was microwaved and too hot, creating all of the seafood to be rubbery and the sausage not to have any flavor at all. Not to mention; the risotto was incredibly runny and tasted like paste on fire.
Oh and beware of the overly dumb and flirtatious staff who seem to think sarcasm is a compliment. [15 May 2007 13:56:52]

Alfresco dining with smoke Alfresco dining in Springfield is far and few between. Metro Grill has a relaxing view of trees and even though on Battlefield Road - the traffic is not that intrusive. BUT they allow smoking outside. It is a great disappointment that I can not enjoy dinner outside at Metro Grill witout being subjected to smokers. This is a huge strike against Metro Grill for dining. [30 May 2007 21:51:59]

Sandwiches Were Not Good My wife and I got two different kinds of sandwiches and each sandwich was very dry and not very tasty. [02 Aug 2007 23:07:24]

Great Time We loved it! Ate there for lunch and dinner the next night with family. I was reading a few of the other reviews... Our flash-fried spinach app. was wonderful. It came out of a 375 degree fryer so it's going to have some oil spots on the leaves, but it only adds to the delicious flavor. My wife had the Spanish Wedding, which is a Spanish paella with seafood and saffron risotto. It was excellent. The squid was great, not at all chewy, which squid can be most of the time. I had the Jennifer, which is New Zealand lamb. The pumpkin and cranberry sauce is amazing. Again, very clever idea. I also requested a special pasta side dish of the tailfeathers pasta (shrimp, pesto cream, chicken, linguine) and it was great. The cooks made my kids special pastas and pizzas, no problem. Our server was friendly and out-going, not just someone who takes your order and brings your food. Like, I said... we really enjoyed it. As I'm doing a lot of business in Springfield, I'm planning on eating there a lot in the future. I think if someone had a bad experience with this place, it may just have been "one of those nights". I think for a place that has such a wide variety of food that comes from several different cultures, they do an amazing job. Great place. [21 Aug 2007 02:24:37]
