Right at Home This is one of those feel at home, know everybody places. The food & service are great. It should be open every day of the week. [12 Jun 2006 15:48:24]

Whatever Happened to Service with a Smile? Whatever happened to service with a smile? Matter-of-fact, whatever happened to service period? My husband and I just came from the Longhorn in Becker near Amory Mississippi---my first and LAST meal there. We ordered their all you can eat steak, shrimp, and fish meal. Never once did anyone come to see if we wanted anything more. Not even so much as to refill my husband's water glass. When I told the owner of the situation, she let me know in no uncertain terms that they were a family-owned operation and that they didn't want to bother anyone and that it was up to us to let them know if we wanted something else. She asked if we had eaten there before and said that she would still fix us more fish if we wanted it. At this point, I was just ready to leave. She said just not to leave a tip and that would get the waitress the message. Get this. It was her table---she just had someone else taking care of us because SHE WAS TOO BUSY. I know that restaurants have more customers now than they need at times, but this was not even a busy night and we were seated in plain sight---not like we were off in a corner somewhere so they forgot about us. It really seemed that we were invisible to them. The hostess and the checkout lady were both very apologetic and were surprised at the owner's reaction to our complaint. But it was not their fault. They were not the ones waiting tables. Actually, no one was waiting our table. Obviously we were supposed to do it ourselves. I thought you only did that at buffets. They even called their restrooms Bulls and Heifers. What lady wants to be called a heifer? I would not have gone back to this restaurant even if the service had been good, because the food overall could not compare to most of the local mom-and-pop businesses that serve the same type of menu. I would not not only not recommmend this place to anyone, I would highly discourage anyone from ever trying it after the owner's could-care-less attitude. [25 May 2007 22:56:04]
