A Nice Treat Back Yard Burgers has something good going. So far I have run into very few problems when eating at their various locations, and this one is no exception.
On my first experience I tried a personal favorite, the blackened chicken sandwich. It's a blackened, skinless chicken breast, topped with coleslaw. The juicy, tender filet had just the right amount of seasoning on it to have good flavor but not be overwhelming. The waffle fries and sweet tea were both freshly-made and quite good.
The restaurants feature a rotating selection of cobblers as a dessert item. I'm not a big fan on fruit-based desserts, but their apple cobbler is second to none. The other flavors (like peach and blueberry) are probably just as good. They're served piping hot, with chunks of fruit throughout.
My only disappointment so far has been the new onion rings - my order from this location was lacking in flavor, with razor thin onions inside a slightly burnt-tasting batter. One of the chain's rare misses.
While it's slightly more expensive than some more well-known fast-food chains, it's almost always worth it. [09 Jul 2007 07:15:31]
