Good Oyster Po-boy Today was my second visit to Famous Joe's. On both visits I ordered the Oyster Po-boy. I am a fan of the Oyster!
I like sitting at the Oyster Bar. This area is the hub of activity for their friendly staff. The door to the kitchen is right there and is always open. Just behind the bar are two stations for shucking those fresh Pass Christian oysters.
Famous Joe's uses Desporte's bread for their Po-boys. Desporte's Avenue Bakery is only two or three blocks away. So, the bread has got to be fresh, huh?
My Po-boys are typically ordered naked...except for some mayo. And, that's how it arrived in front of me. The bread was warm, having been lightly toasted and stacked high with oysters that were hot, crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside. Delightful!
One more thing! To complete the experience, I suggest ordering your po-boy with a bottle of Barq's Rootbeer. I'm confident you'll leave Famous Joe's with a smile on your face.
One thing more...In this review, I'm having to pick ratings out of a drop-down box. None of them really reflect my feelings about Famous Joe's.
So, here are my personal ratings...
