McElroy's in Ocean Springs
After hearing about the wonderful seafood at McElroy's, my family and I decided to try it for ourselves. Guess my taste buds aren't educated, but to us, the food was horrible. I love seafood, and when I bite into a fried shrimp, I expect to taste shrimp, not batter or sugar. The same with all seafood. The batter and other ingredients overpowered the seafood taste. Personally I wouldn't recommend the place to anyone. On the otherhand, my cats ate expensive, but they even turned their nose up at the fried fish after the first bite.    [20 Mar 2004 13:31:31]

Ocean Springs food is horrible.....I have known "Mickey" the owner for over 30 years...He now has his wife FULLY involved. Why would one choose to sell frozen breaded shrimp on the coast???

So long to a great place
McElroy's was more about friendly wait staff and great atmosphere than great food. However, I found the food to be good and especially enjoyed their breakfast. In wake of Katrina I doubt McElroy's is still there, but hope they will rebuild. However, I will miss the vintage charm of the original location.    [30 Aug 2005 20:56:41]
