Great fried shrimp!
We wanted 'local flavor' during our 'Blues vacation' in Clarksdale, and we got that and more at Ramon's. Apologists were quick to point out that Ramon's needs a little 'refurbishing', but it's actually quite 'homey' (year-round Christmas decorations), and the food is excellent. We had their famous fried shrimp - they were large, obviously fresh, and succulent. The side order wasn't hush puppies, but spaghetti with olive oil, butter and parmesan cheese. It was perfectly done. The salad reminded me of my mother's cooking - a perfec vinegarette. We saw many people come and go, most of them ordered shrimp in some form. Lots of carryout customers, too. We assume Ramon's is an Italian restaurant done 'Southern style'. Great service, our server was adorable, sweet and full of good advice on what to order. We'd go back there in a heart beat, but we live north of Chicago. Next year, definitely!    [01 May 2005 22:33:56]
