Description

Recently relocated from their old location by the airport to the Grapevine Store just north of town on Highway 61, Airport Grocery serves steaks, seafood, hot tamales, barbeque and lots of old blues music.

The restaurant sometimes hosts private events. You may want to call before heading out!

One of the best steakhouses in Mississippi!
It's a 60 mile one-way drive for me, but that doesn't stop me from going there when I can.

The décor is slightly "dive" on the inside, but don't let the old posters and dirty ceiling turn you off.

The steaks are nicely flavored and tender, but there are other dishes worth trying, too. The fried catfish is very good, some of the better catfish in the Delta.

Corn fritters and tamales are available as appetizers, and neither dissapoints.

The sweet tea is quite good. They serve Dr. Pepper and RC Cola from the fountain, which is a nice change of pace.

Fries are an option for your side dish, but if you're feeling adventurous, get them covered in gravy.

On one occasion I had room for dessert and tried the chess pie. It was nicely balanced, not overly sweet or too rich. The chocolate-cream flavoring was just right. Other desserts are available, including cakes and cheesecake.    [11 Jul 2007 03:54:38]
