Best Food in Columbia
Although the Round Table Restauraunt has the best fried chicken in town, their menu never changes. If that suits you, fine, but I prefer a more varied cuisine. The Back Door Cafe blends traditional southern fare with more contemporary items, catering to both the die hard traditional southern food lovers as well as the more adventurous. The menu changes daily, which allows diners to eat there every day without getting peppered with the same old thing. Excellent quality, ample portions, low prices. What else do you want?    [23 Dec 2004 12:37:05]

Impressed!!
I really enjoyed meeting Fran Ginn and experiencing all the love she has for killer food in a beautiful unique sitting. She has a special approach to exceptional dining...very fresh... her staff is all involved in putting forth a super dining experience. I am in the business and it's great to see a healthy new enlightenment to enjoying the act of dining out. These people have it going on!    [10 Mar 2006 12:54:13]

Red Cross Volunteers LOVE the Back Door Cafe!
I was in Columbia, MS for 2 weeks after Katrina with the Red Cross. We worked so hard every day. Three days before we left Columbia we discovered the Back Door Cafe and all of us fell in love with it - everything about it! The atmosphere, the building, the food, the owner and the staff. It is a complete dining experience. I live in Washingon, D.C. but sometimes I wish I could just pop down to Columbia, MS to have just about anything on the Back Door Cafe menu!    [27 Mar 2006 16:09:08]

Don't Miss It!!!
There is probably no one in Mississippi who has not eaten Fran’s specialties as she has catered many wedding receptions and other events all over the state.

Eating at the Backdoor Restaurant gives you the chance to continue enjoying her good food. (You might even be lucky enough to meet Fran, herself!)

Living in Jackson and not Columbia has only allowed me to eat at the Backdoor Restaurant at lunch. The specials here are not to be missed! Someday I hope to have the opportunity to have one (or more) of the evening meals. Those menus sound so delicious!

If you’re ever in Columbia, don’t miss this opportunity for a great food experience!    [27 Mar 2006 16:31:20]

I remain a fan of the Cobb salads with the decadent blue cheese dressing for lunch at the Back Door. However, having an option to dine on Main St.- where atmosphere, a diverse menu, and stellar food grace the evening dining experience-thrills me. I enjoy reading the informative essay re: the "On the Road" special and going on that sensational journey! There's a certain vitality in the air because the Back Door is alive and swinging!    [27 Mar 2006 17:26:10]

Traveling through Mississippi we just happened upon The Back Door and what a delightful dining experience it was! From the varied menu to the decor to the staff, I can only praise Fran Ginn. During two weeks of eating at restaurants throughout the state, this was the without doubt the best. I am trying to think of excuses to visit Columbia again just to enjoy another meal there.    [04 May 2006 11:26:08]

WOW!!
My wife, Kathleen, and I were in Columbia a few days ago for a retirement party at the Back Door. The food was great and the atmosphere was perfect. We had the pleasure of meeting the owners and felt like we had met before...someplace. I can't imagine not stopping in the next time we get near Columbia. We have found another 'favorite place to eat' in Mississippi.    [28 May 2006 20:26:39]

What would a restaurant have to do to tempt me to drive 70 miles just to have lunch? Easy...allow Fran Ginn to work her magic in one of the most enjoyable dining experences I have had in awhile. Kudos Fran! Not only GREAT food, but so much "eye-candy" in the quirky yet tasteful decor. I loved it and am looking foward to more trips over to Columbia!    [05 Sep 2006 14:57:27]
