Garfield's
No wonder so many Garfield's Restaurants have closed! I really used to like Garfield's and when so many other people were putting it down, I was defending it. Depending on the type of steak you like, Garfield's had the best. We always have ordered steak there - until the fourth one in a row came to us crispy and tough after we asked for medium or medium well. The last time I specifically asked that it not be crispy. And how did it come to me? You guessed it! And I didn't have the time to wait for a new one.    [29 Jan 2004 23:12:43]

Terrible
Ordered chicken strips for the kids, cut 'em up to find raw chicken. Sent it back. After a long while, manager returns with one chicken strip! (Where did the fries go?) This was so overcooked, I couldn't cut it with a steak knife. We were just passing thru town. Will never eat at this chain again.    [15 Apr 2004 16:46:23]

Worst Experience Ever
There was hardly anyone there and it took 20 mintues to get a Dr. Pepper and a glass of wine. One of the meals they brought out was wrong, the waitress kept on giving excuses ("They have me back there washing dishes"). My son even asked for extra sour cream and needless to say that there was none to be seen. I told them it would be a cold day in _ _ _ _ before I return. We used to go all the time with friends and family, NO MORE. The manager just made excuses and did not care.    [22 Feb 2005 09:58:54]

Garfield's Restaurant and Pub Needs Help
I've been to this restaurant 3 times, and 2 times they were out of just about everything on the menu. The 3rd time I went there to give them another chance after I received a $20.00 apology letter from the COO in Oklahoma. I never received any service after waiting for 45 minutes. I then spoke to the Manager and he stated that he's been having problems with our server all night. I informed him that the poor service not only came from our server but other employees that had stopped by the table and asked if we've been waited on as well.

This was by far the worst service I've ever received at a restaurant. I will not waste my money at this place ever again. I intend to talk to the CEO on the phone about this horrible place. Take my advice and save your money. [Originally submitted 05 Mar 2006]    [08 Mar 2006 15:28:19]

Great!
I don't know how other's are putting down such a great restaurant, it may be that we're either lucky or some people irritate the establishment by being rude themselves. My wife and I love to look forward to going to Garfield's, we even get in on the activities and promotions offered. If something was amiss, no big deal, just do so in a civilized manner. An authoritarian tone of voice will get you nowhere. I recommend it at our location.    [01 Mar 2008 07:10:30]

Needs lots of help
I called in an order to Garfield's last night. I was not sure of the name of the items I wanted but the server kept telling me he knew exactly what I was talking about. Obviously NOT! When I got home with my order the fire string sandwich with steak turned out to be some kind of burger with chili on it. Cooked beyond recognition. (Seems like if the fire string sandwich was no longer served he would have realized that I was not talking about a burger when I told him I wanted the steak instead of chicken.) The fried mushrooms looked more like smushy okra and had no crunch or flavor and the dinasour bites looked like they had gone thru @@@@. I live 10 minutes from Garfield's so there was no way the food could have gotten so cold or soggy in such a short time. After waiting for 30 minutes for an order that had been called in at least 15 minutes before I got there the server was so busy texting on his cell phone that he could not extend me the courtesy of making my change before he answered another text. Won't happen again for sure. The food is too high priced to be so nasty and the service lousy.    [01 Mar 2008 13:49:54]

My sister and I ate at Garfield's on 4-16-08 in Visksburg. We did enjoy the meal. The new manager LaKeisha and our server Rachel did a great job. Thank you.

Last Visit
We have made our last visit to Garfield’s. We give them a try every 6 months or so to see if they have gotten better. When it is done right the food is really good, getting it done right is the issue. We became fans of Garfield’s in December of 2004 and ate there practically every day. They had a new manager and he got things in shape and kept them good. Every time we visited there while he was the manager the food was good and the service was fast, the only real problem we had was waiting for a table. He didn’t stay with Garfield’s for long but did open his own restaurant soon after he left Garfield’s. After he left the place went to pieces and we have only had one good meal in the 6 attempts we made since then. Our most recent visit was the worst restaurant experience of our lives. We were seated after they finally spotted us and waited forever and had to flag down a waitress. She said not her table but she would get our waitress right away. After a few more minutes a girl showed up, hanging up her cell phone as she approached the table. Took forever to get our drinks (tea and coke), took our order and another wait ensued. They finally brought out my wife’s food (roughly 30 minutes) and said they were out of the food I ordered, did I want to order something else. I asked what could they make quickly or just put on a plate, after she came back in 5 minutes or so she said nachos. I ordered nachos. Another 15 minutes or so and she said they were out of nachos. I said bring me whatever you have, I will eat it. She apologized and said she will get me something right away. Another 15 minutes (I promise I am not making this up, it was this horrible) and she came out with nachos. They were inedible. I asked to see the manager. After waiting another 10 minutes or so I gave up and asked for the check. When we got the check it was for all the items ordered, including the ones not received and the waitress insisted I pay for all it because I ordered it. I paid for my wife’s food and our drinks and said the manager needs to come see me for the rest. I gave the manager another 10 minutes or so and he never showed.

As a side note the manager who won us over to Garfield’s in 2005 has gone on to open two successful restaurants in Vicksburg, one of which was recently voted one of the best in town. Why can’t Garfield’s keep good people?    [06 Jan 2009 14:00:24]
