Excellent Passing through Vicksburg we stopped at this place with the unusual name and discovered a gem!
The atmosphere is eclectic and comfortable with fast service. We prefer a more upscale restaurant with finer appointments but this place hit the mark with it's efforts to present a comfortable, easy setting. The food was great. I had the 'Cajun Catfish' and my wife had the Country Fried Steak (she always has the CFS where ever we go). I was very surprised at the quality and portion size of the catfish, it was huge and I couldn't eat it all. The dish was amazing. Large and thick catfish deep fried covered with a crawfish creole that was out of this world. Without a doubt the best etouffee type dish I have ever had. I tasted my wife's CFS and it was extremely flavorful, slightly spicy and very large. She said it is in the top 5, if not the best CFS she has ever had. The veggies that came with the dish were very good too. The meal included iced tea - served in old mason jars, and a small desert cobbler. We were so full we didn't want the dessert but the waitress ( in cowboy hat and well fit jeans : )) brought it out, it comes with the meal. I tasted it and it was unusual for a cobbler but damn tasty.
It was under $20 for both of our meals, including tip.
Wow. If you are ever in Vicksburg make this a must stop for lunch. [12 Dec 2008 12:56:38]

Another Visit We stopped again in over the holidays, this time with friends and family, 10 of us in all. We walked in to a full restaurant but I really wanted my family to eat here so we waited. Horse Face Harry herself (Yes Horse Face Harry is a woman. She doesn't look anything like a horse, she’s actually a VERY attractive woman) said several tables were done and we wouldn't wait too long, she offered drinks and served us herself as we waited for a table, how nice. We didn't wait long and to make a long story short Horse Face Harry's was just as good the second time around. I tried the Pork Chop plate on the recommendation of the table next to us and the thing was huge, again I struggled to eat it all but it was soooooo good. My grand kids are a finicky bunch of eaters but it was no problem here other than it was too much food for them to eat. After one of the kids kept saying how tasty the chicken and dumplings were we had the server bring out an extra portion for everyone to try. We ended up adding several sides orders of chicken and dumplings, man were they good. We even bought extra to take home (comes in a mason jar for carryout!!!!) My oldest boy had the Cajun Catfish I had on my last visit and said the same thing, the best he had ever eaten. Daughter had a baked chicken salad with ‘cactus sauce’ and said she can’t remember having a salad that good and certainly not one that good for the price. Wife had the Country Fried Steak she had been craving since our last visit and ordered one to go too. We were amazed at how fast the food came out - literally we had food in front of us within 10 minutes and the place was packed! We didn’t like the atmosphere the last time were we here, a little too down home for us, but after this visit we think the atmosphere is just perfect for a casual, comfortable dinner. The service was top notch and considering how busy they were it really couldn’t have been any better. We are really critical of restaurants and picky when it comes to where we eat but I can’t say enough about how good the food and service have been at Horse Face Harrys. [06 Jan 2009 14:47:03]
