Fine Dining in an Excellent Atmosphere I've dined at The Acoma numerous times now as it's become my favorite restaurant in Uptown Butte.
They offer two menus, a dining and a bar menu, which you can order from in either the dining area or the lounge itself.
Food: Garlic Roasted Tenderloin - one of my favorites. Ample slices of beef surrounded by Duchesse potatoes presented beautifully. Just enough garlic to bring out the flavor, served in a red wine sauce. Chicken Farfalle - another great dish at an excellent price. Enormous portions that will almost always require a take-home box. Seafood Fettuccine Alfredo - another great pasta dish I enjoyed that came with an array of shrimp, crab, and/or lobster. Again, enormous portions and a perfect ratio of pasta to seafood.
All came with a choice of dinner or Caesar salad and bread. All came fast from the kitchen when I was ready for them, hot and fresh.
Service: Friendly hosts, bartenders, and waitresses that were courteous and knowledgeable of the establishment and menu. Plates were cleared quickly, and the next course was promptly delivered.
Ambiance: The ambiance at The Acoma is spectacular! The lounge breathes a mysterious hue of purple in a comfortable, relaxing atmosphere. Classical music is heard in the background, and the patrons at the bar have fun, but aren't loud or obnoxious. A host or two bartenders greet everyone when they walk in and wish them a good evening when leaving. The lounge sports long, copper bar with seating for over a dozen people. The lounge also has half a dozen intimate booths that easily hold 4 to 5 people. A semi-private gathering room for larger parties also adjoins the bar. Food is also served in the lounge at the bar or one the booths.
The restaurant is on two levels. The first level is a private dining room for large gatherings, meetings, or banquets. The formal dining room is an elegant display of both booths and tables with chairs. With a window table, the view is incredible as you can see the lights of the entire city for miles. It also has a large skylight ceiling. The dining room is neither cramped, nor noisy, and you cannot hear nor see the kitchen.
Regular patrons seem to be that of the "white-collar, corporate" class enjoying a beverage after work or a meal with their families, including children. The entire establishment is smoke-free, including the lounge.
I am not affiliated with the restaurant, although I do frequent it monthly. Reservations are recommended. [26 Oct 2005 13:51:22]

Great Lunch We had lunch at the Acoma - immediate seating and service from friendly wait staff. My wife had an excellent Philly Dip, while I had a 'special of the day' - Turkey Melt. The side dishes, both Cole Slaw and Potato Salad were some of the best we've ever had. [05 Jul 2007 21:37:50]

CHEERS...with FOOD Wow. I live in San Francisco, which is overrun with restaurants TRYING to be as friendly and professional as this one stuck in the dying town of Butte, Montana. I've only eaten there twice. However, both times I found that time flew when I was there. The layout of the place is great because whether they're incredibly busy or empty, it's still an intimate dining experience. The wait staff are incredibly knowledgeable about the building/owners/menu etc., and they are outgoing enough to make you feel like a regular. The menu is several steps above everywhere I've been in Montana and even on par with most of the big city places. And wow... the portions... it's amazing to find food of that quality these days and NOT ala carte. Thank you Acoma! [07 Aug 2007 20:35:51]

Acoma..what a Joke! Don't waste your time at this Acoma dining hole. They try to act like they are big city with quality and a chef that can actually know the difference between slop and something to be proud of. This family..Nalivak's should go back to baking those terrible pizzas in Havre, MT and get out of the food business as this is a real joke and the food is whipped out by a "short order fry cook" at best. The rest of the crew has to just grin and bear the "owner" who stole the place from relatives who have long bailed out form their ignorance...these people need to get out more and find out what real dining is about..and the wine list..come on!
