Great food, friendly people We stayed at the Lost Horse Creek Lodge on our vacation and ate exclusively there. The steaks were great, large and juicy. Fresh vegetables and baked potatoes with all the fixings made for a wonderful meal. Kids loved the ground sirloin burgers and fresh-cut french fries. The crisp salads (especially with Bleu Cheese dressing) made for a great starter. Tasty box lunches made to order were very convenient to take along on our travels to all the beautiful and historic sites this area is known for.
They have a formal dining room for large groups, but the best part is the restaurant and authentic family friendly old-west saloon where we ate all our meals with our two young sons. It's a family run restaurant that mixes friendly locals with travelers looking to get away from the mad city rush. Cold beer and a full-service bar make for a relaxing place to rest your feet after a long day outdoors.
The food was great, but what makes this place stand out is the host Connie. She took such good care of us and made sure the kids had a great time. Great service!
My only regret is that the Huckleberries weren't in season yet. I would have loved to try their fresh Huckleberry pies and home-made shakes. Maybe next time when we come back. [12 May 2008 16:41:15]

Lost Horse Creek Lodge and authentic Montana Experience We recently stayed at Lost Horse Creek Lodge near Hamilton Montana and only 55 miles south of Missoula off Highway 93. The Lodge was in all respects, lodging, restaurant and western style saloon, of the highest quality. A fantastic and original experience like stepping back in time. It is the real deal. The log cabins were very comfortable and clean and reasonably priced.
The restaurant featured the best rib eye steaks I have ever eaten and has a great menu. The staff is very accommodating and cordial. The Lodge is historic and off the beaten path. Horseback trail rides, rock climbing , hiking, fishing, snowmobiling and skiing are all available. Staying at the Lodge gave us access to the Selway National forest and wilderness area as well as many scenic areas a short distance from the site.
We highly recommend this Lodge over others we have stayed at in the western united states. [13 May 2008 16:12:35]
