Hap's Happy House I cannot believe no one wrote a few lines on Hap's. From getting a brown bag out the back door when under the drinking age from some old railroad boomer to meeting my wife there in 1978 it has been one of the most delightful and colorful places in Helena MT. When Don Lytle took ownership in the mid 1970's he preserved the grace shown towards working people from all walks of life. Three piece suits, hard hats, cowboys and baseball players of both genders have enjoyed a fine tall cold "whatever you want" in a beverage. Keep it simple is Don's rule of thumb. If your in the neighborhood (within 100 miles) stop in and shake hands with Don, you'll be glad you did! [30 Aug 2006 15:30:05]

I liked the Hap's Hideaway in Kauai. Big Don's son Brent, lit up Lihue and Rocked Rice street. You kinda had to be there. For more then a decade it was a watering hole for the pau-hana gang. Different latitude, same attitude. Hospitality and good fun.The Hawaiian locals still remains about Hap's Hideaway. One even flew to Montana to visit the Mother ship on Railroad Ave.
Peanut shells on the floor. One of life's great pleasures. [10 Nov 2008 03:39:38]
