Enjoy the Park-Avoid this Dump! When I politely complained that my expensive (!) steak was full of grissle and inedible, the chef loudly contested that she'd cut the meat herself and I was going to pay for it or she'd "call the sheriff" on me. (Didn't know the menu offered a sideorder of public humiliation.) Regret that it was my last stop before returning to military duty overseas! [15 Jan 2005 22:54:08]

Worst meal and service of my life We ordered 2 simple sandwiches for a quick lunch. 35 minutes later we decided to leave, informing the waitress we could no longer wait for our meal. She informed us that we were in violation of some obscure Montana law, which by the way she referenced instantly (Me thinks this is not the first time they have pulled this stunt) and that she would call the police on us if we left. We left offering to pay for our undelivered meal and pass this on as a warning to all. Unless you want to be threatened with arrest or police pursuit do not go to Bullwinkles. [11 Aug 2005 11:12:27]

As good as it gets in West Yellowstone We stayed in town for a week and had generally average food. We at here twice, (lunch and dinner). The lunch was above average and the broasted chicken was exceptional. The service was good - efficient and quick, but no extra smiles! The dinner provided us with a fine trout and fantastic pork chop. Desert was a real surprise, the cheesecake was as good as any I've ever had. If we had found the place sooner we would have eaten there more often. [12 Feb 2006 14:28:29]

BEST BURGER EVER If your looking for a five star restaurant, don't eat at Bullwinkel's. This is a place that you can sit down have a beer after a long trip and enjoy a great burger. I stop there every year and get great service and food each time. This is coming from an ex-vegetarian!!! [02 Sep 2006 16:08:44]

I've had better food at cafeterias I ate there with three other people. Two of us ordered the elk medallions, one ordered a salad and the last member of our party had the elk burger. Those with the salad and the burger were happy. The elk medallion dinners though, were terrible. They were presented well on the plate, but looked and tasted like bad cafeteria food. The vegetables were overcooked to the point of being inedible, the rice pilaf was overcooked brown and wild rice with nothing to flavor them, the tomato au gratin had obviously been cooked earlier in the day and the cheese on top was cold and hard. The elk medallions themselves looked like they had grill marks pressed into them and then set in a pan of water on a steam table for hours.
The waiter was very nice, he had some class, but we won't be eating there again. [17 Feb 2007 18:35:47]

LOUSY AND RUDE Ate here with my family. When we complained about the an inedible appetizer and sent it back to the kitchen, the manager stormed over to our table and announced that this restaurant was "the best in West Yellowstone" and the appetizer was perfectly fine and that she would not take the charge off the bill. So much for the customer is always right. The entire meal was well below average, but the attitude of the management was abysmal. [21 Jun 2007 14:20:02]

Should be Was recommended by local fly shop. Ordered the $22 ribeye special. Never have I had a tougher steak much less in beef country. Let the waitress know to no avail, she was sorry though. Out of all the places visited for food nothing can compare to how bad this was. Table next to us experienced the same problem with the bad steak. [07 Aug 2007 16:07:44]
