Bad Service at the Flying Frog Specifically went there for Kilikanoon '99 wine. (Party of 6) It was on the wine menu...3 sips into it noticed that the bottle said 2000. Asked waiter to check for '99. Said he didn't have time until our food was up. So we kept drinking. Hard time getting waiter attention all evening.
Paltry serving of pita with hummus appetizer. Asked for more - finally arrived 20 min later - charged .71 cents for extra pita! Waiter attitude was very snippy and impatient entire time. Finally asked waiter again about '99 Kilikanoon wine - said no more left. He spilled wine on my white jacket hanging on my chair, said nothing, didn't notice till I got home. When bill came he attached 19% gratuity. When we questioned management he said, "Too late now...you drank the wine," and "Nothing I can do". All in all, one of the more unpleasant dining experiences I have ever had. Will never go there again and will tell everyone I can how bad it was. [11 Jun 2003 17:59:54]

Fabulous Flight with Frog Stopped in for a quick drink, Thomas at the bar made my Margarita to perfection, the service was spot-on. I will definitely make it a more frequent occurrence. [21 Jul 2003 20:16:16]

Give the Frog Another Chance, Becky I have been to the Flying Frog on numerous occasions while traveling through Asheville. It's the only place I'll dine if in Asheville. I've always had fantastic service even when asked to wait. You must have patience when eating at a fine dining establishment like this - don't go here if you're in a hurry. The Frog is a place where you enjoy your wine, food, and company around you. I've recommended the Frog to everyone I can that tells me they're traveling to Asheville, and have always had fantastic praise from all! It's the one place to stop other than the Biltmore Estate when you're in the beautiful city of Asheville. The staff will treat you like you've never been treated before! [18 Oct 2003 19:27:14]

The Frog is fantastic. I live in Asheville, and eat there at least once a month. [26 Oct 2003 23:42:08]

Great Experience We had a wonderful afternoon and the service was wonderful! We purchased their wine, which by the way is harvested strictly for them, and life was good! [06 Nov 2003 19:54:11]

Flying Frog: A Feast for the Senses One attends this restaurant not solely to be served but to evoke the muses. My greatest inspirations have been drawn from the city streets, the sidewalk musician, the local literati. Nowhere else has a server discussed Aristotle while decanting the wine. It's recommended to anyone wanting a haven from these crowded streets. [04 Mar 2004 10:49:37]

Might Give It Another Chance, but... Some odd things - only two tables occupied in entire restaurant and we were seated very close together (and they were so loud we could not hear each other).
Room was so dark it was hard to see the menu or the food.
Food was good; service was slow.
All in all - dark, empty but very noisy, and slow.
One hopes it was a bad night. [12 Jul 2004 11:43:04]

Headed Back to the Frog My now fiance and I spent our 2nd anniversary dining and drinking at the Frying Flog Cafe in 2002 and had a most delicious time. Now we are heading towards our 4th anniversary/soon to be wedding day in early November 2004 (the 2nd to be exact, unless they are closed on Tuesday...yikes!) and we plan on taking our guests there. We are sure they will be as thrilled as we were. Wish us well! [12 Sep 2004 01:33:36]

Great Dining Experience I was invited there by the restaurant to eat a buffet they had prepared for some local students. I expected to be treated second class, but that wasn't the case. The server was attentive, respectful, and acted as if he was a long time friend. The food was wonderful and it was presented nicely. I did not visit the lower level, but what was visible was clean and inviting. I recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a relaxed atmosphere and inviting environment. [31 Jul 2007 14:54:12]

Been to this establishment 4 times. (I like to give a place a decent chance.) This place is far below par. The service is bad and the food is edible at best. I like to visit new and interesting restaurants, but this is one that I shall stay away from for good. [26 Feb 2008 12:21:26]
