Description
Rearn Thai is located on West Market Street, not far from the intersection of Spring Garden Street. The new building is reminiscent of traditional Thai architecture with an Asian roofline atop rows of floor to ceiling windows. There are seven outside tables on the patio that surrounds the restaurant, although the view of West Market leaves something to be desired. Lunch hours are the most hectic with the restaurant filling up by ten after twelve on most days. While Rearn Thai is not recommended for large groups, up to four people can enjoy comfortable seating. Rearn Thai serves traditional Thai foods and has an adequate beer and wine list
Note: Its new location is directly across the street from its old location.

Editor's Pick I recently trekked across town to check out Rearn Thai’s new location. While the new restaurant is quite nice, there are several problems which lead me to question the move. A major issue is lack of parking spaces, which on a busy night, forces patrons to park on the street. There also seems to be less seating capacity than in the old location, which may have been the owner’s plan rather than poor design. Lastly, the amount of wasted space is staggering. Personally, I would have lofted a second floor to add more seating, rather than leave a huge open ceiling that, on a rainy or cold day, only adds to the chill inside the restaurant. I suggest bringing a light sweater or layering shirts just in case! On the flip side, Rearn’s food and service continue to be phenomenal! I began my culinary adventure with a small bowl of Tom Yum soup. This particular version was less spicy than some I have had, but the lemon grass in this soup gave it fresh clean taste that was an excellent opener to my main meal. I also enjoyed being able to add meat to the soup which has never been an option in other Thai restaurants. For my main dish, I had the Gang Dang or red curry. Served with white rice, this dish comes with a meat of your choice, sliced bamboo and fresh basil leaves. The sauce was a mixture of red curry paste and coconut milk that felt like the fusion of fire and velvet in my mouth. I topped the whole meal off with a glass of Thai iced-tea which, in my opinion, is a dessert drink. There are several dishes worth exploring, such as the Gang Ped Pead Yarng (Duck Curry), The Crying Tiger (Northern Style marinated steak with special hot sauce), Pud Kra-Prow Pead (Duck Basil), and Pra Goong Salad (Hot and Sour Shrimp). Oh! And just in case you were worrying about your food getting cold, all dishes are served either with a lid or in a large candle-heated, ceramic bowl! Four Chef Knives Up! [09 May 2006 17:46:22]

My Favorite Place to Eat in Greensboro. I find the best things about this restaurant are the consistently high quality of the food and service, and the fact that you get so much food for your money. Their new location is very clean, open and modern with some beautiful asian accents. But at busy times loud people can create a lot of unpleasant echoes. I like to arrive around 11:30 before the crowds. As a vegetarian, I love that there is a good selection for me. A lot of dishes can be made with veggies and tofu instead of meat. I like my food on the hot side, and they tend to be a little inconsistent providing the level of heat you request. Most of the time it ends up being very mild, and once in a while I will be pleasantly shocked by the heat level. Don't ask for hot unless you're prepared to handle it. They will provide extra red pepper if it's not hot enough for you. There is a shredded papaya salad that is the best thing I've ever tasted. It's sweet and tangy, with fresh cherry tomatoes and green beans on top. The peanuts add a nice crunch, and the sauce is good enough to lick off the plate. Sometimes I think I drive all the way to town just for this salad. The curry dishes are the best. Smooth creamy coconut milk with a nirvana of spices mixed in.... and it arrives in a cool two-layered dish with a charcoal underneath to keep it warm. Unlike the other dishes on the menu, the curries stay warm in their little covered dishes, and you can just serve yourself out small helpings at a time. That way each serving is still warm. The price is very reasonable. For $7 per person, the curries are more than you can eat at once. I always end up taking some home for the next day (probably the best part of the experience). All together, my boyfriend and I end up spending about $25 on food and $5 on tip for both of us. That includes the papaya salad, two drinks, and two curries. The owner is very friendly. He recognizes us by now, and always says "See you next weekend!" [16 Jul 2006 00:29:54]

Rearn Thai, new location across from the old one. It's more bright because of the clear windows instead of having walls. I love their chicken wings and the sauce that comes with it. The chicken wings are small for me but they are still good! Also their beef fried rice which I get it spicy are also really good. Usually on special occasions my family eats there.
