Wonderful Cuisine, Unusual For This Size City This is our favorite restaurant in town. The chef, Heather, is a classically trained chef and her food is absolutely head and shoulders above anything else in town. Items on the menu are classic pasta, steak and seafood, but just a little different than what you can find locally. More European and continental flavors leave you wanting more. And you'll want to come back to sample everything on the menu!
The menu items are very reasonably priced, and the service is excellent.
The desserts are the best in town as well. Caird, the owner, makes them himself and his specialty is Creme Brulee. My favorite is the mango creme brulee! [10 Jun 2004 23:57:13]

What An Atmosphere, What Flair, What Food! While on a trip from the UK to visit friends in Greenville, we wanted to take our hosts Charlene and Ernest Silver out to dinner as a thank you for all they had done to make our visit so special. I had heard The Hilton Hotel had a pretty good restaurant and decided to check it out. However on inspection the restaurant just looked like any other hotel restaurant anywhere else in the world. In fact it looked rather dated. I was somewhat perplexed as to what to do next. Thankfully Charlene came to the rescue and recommended Plum Tree.
As soon as we entered the restaurant the friendly welcome made us all feel relaxed. Thankfully the decor was stylish and gave the feel of being in a Mediterranean restaurant.
Heather to owner talked us through the menu. We started with the speciality salad - then all of us tried something different from the main course. This truly is a great restaurant
Only one negative - in the UK a restaurant closes when the last customer leaves. We left this restaurant when they dimmed the lights for closing. Shame, as we could have drank more wine and stayed a little longer.
So we plan to come back next year and arrive early! [07 May 2005 09:45:35]

Veggie Delight As a newly declared vegetarian, eating out has been difficult, because it's tough to find truly vegetarian dishes (besides a salad, and you can only eat so many of those). The vegetarian pizza at Plum Tree was delicious! A terrific change from my usual bowl of lettuce!
It's also a great lunch-time meeting place - quiet and private. [02 Aug 2005 13:55:39]

Surprise! I recently moved to Greenville and stumbled upon this quiet little bistro today. What a wonderful discovery it was. Outstanding food, great menu choices and excellent service makes this bistro my new favorite. I will visit the Plum tree many more times, becoming a self proclaimed regular! [25 Nov 2005 14:02:06]

Overpriced, small portions, nice surroundings but had the feeling of a dining hall. [28 Apr 2007 19:20:38]

A true delight every time I go there. If my wife would let me, I'd eat here every night!
The decor is great. Not too busy, and they often showcase artwork done by local artists or by people the owners have connections to.
The food... I can't go on enough about the food.
The Wine... same as the food, but the best part is that if you aren't sure about a type of wine, or a specific name, the owners chime in to give you extra information to go on.
The staff are excellent. To me, this is one of the most enjoyable parts about visiting here. I am SO terribly tired of chain-restaurants and their lack of hands-on work with their staff. You can tell that the owners really work with the staff on everything from etiquette to bar tending. [03 Jul 2007 17:20:00]
