Fabulous!! This place is wonderful. Great salads. The best butternut squash bisque I've ever eaten. Nice, soft lighting and nice decor. I've eaten here several times and have loved it every time. Worth the trip!! [05 Mar 2005 21:45:46]

Not a good pick 6 of 8 dinners were served substandard quality and prepared food. Waiter was not helpful and barely pleasant. [10 Jun 2005 17:09:18]

Excellent Blackwater Grill was written up in the Ashevill Citizen Times as an excellent place to go. We went last night and it was far beyond our best expectations from beginning to end. The decor is casual elegant. The service was friendly, knowledgable and very attentive. The food was fantastic! We have eaten at most of the "good" restaurants in the Asheville area and this has been by far our most wonderful meal. Having eaten at fine restaurants in Europe and across the U.S., the is one of the best. The menua was broad, but not too! I love duck it was superb! Could go on and on.....just go. Good and Reliable Always good food. Many regular customers would attest to the quality. Reasonable wine list. Wish it had a little more ambience. [03 Mar 2006 13:14:57]

Uneven Some mains are terrific. Stuffed chicken, for example, is wonderful. The duck, however, tastes steamed, not roasted, could even have been microwaved. Sides are the same: some are excellent; others are to be avoided (sweet potato medallions are nasty, and I love sweet potatoes). Over the time this place has been open, they should have gotten better. Complacency is dangerous in this business. At least string the sugar snaps, please. [14 Mar 2006 17:43:57]

SERVICE BAD, OTHERWISE TOP NOTCH After being open long enough to get their staff grooved, they just can't seem to put it together. Some nites they're understaffed, others the service is just plain unattentive. Also, it's one big room and would be warmer if broken up with some dividers.
Food is good and well presented, decent value (and ability to order smaller portion is very good idea). [18 Jun 2006 10:48:51]

Worth The Trip From Anywhere! I bought my parents a gift certificate for the BWG when they went to go up to Hendersonville for the summer last year, in '05. They called me from the restaurant and said it was one of the best meals they had ever had. When I went back with my Mother in Nov. we went together and it was absolutely delicious! Couldn't stop eating the bread. They even shared where I could get loaves of it and I brought home 4 loaves!
Service isn't bad when we go, just not all that personable and dotting. It's a nice place to take friends for a good meal in Hendersonville. [09 Jul 2006 05:00:01]

First Time Diners Nice to see how the interior changed from the previous restaurant which we had loved for so long.
Totally different dining experience and the decor matched the change in food.
The bread was delicious.
My husband "loved" the large 20oz ribeye, however, would have been nice to have a choice for smaller. The choice limited to 8oz or 20oz on steaks, so this was definitely a take home box item.
My entree chicken pesto linguine not so special and did not come with a salad or side. [21 Aug 2006 12:46:14]

Not a Good Experience Five of us went for dinner on Saturday night. We were seated next to the door to the outside dining area which was ok but the door closer was broken causing the door to slam all evening. No one seemed to care about this even when we mentioned the problem. The service was mediocre and definitely not worth 20%.
Some food was ok but some was not. The small salmon dish was what you would expect from a cafeteria and not worth over $15. Plus we were suprised to see a 20% automatic gratuity added for a party of 5. It appeared as though the wait staff really did not care much about how the meal was. I would not go back.
