Loved it!
We have been in the Hendersonville/Flat Rock area every summer for the past four years but had never been to Kelsey's until this year. We loved it. Bottom line: good food! Good service too. The prices were extremely reasonably for the quality of food we were served.    [30 Jul 2005 21:27:45]

Going Down Hill
I regret to say that Kelsey's is not what it used to be. We've been eating here since the 1990s and, early on, we loved the restaurant. They had a fantastic Sunday brunch and tasty weekday entrees with variety of choice. However, more recently, the quality of food has dropped. The service is fair on some days and not so good on others. Moreover, the last time we were there, the health department rating had hit an all time low. Sorry Kelsey's -- we're dining elswhere now.    [18 Apr 2006 21:43:16]

Good Food
We have been coming to Flat Rock/Hendersonville for the past 5 years. We found Kelsey's and in our opinion it's one of the best Restaurants in the area. I highly recommend the food and service. It's an excellent choice. Kelsey's is as good as any Restaurant I have ever dined.    [23 Aug 2006 17:36:40]

Not What We Expected
We went to Kelsey's Aug 25 for our 51st
Anniversary. Was very disapointed with the service and the food.We were almost through with our food befor they brought the bread and we had to ask for bread twice befor we got it.Don't plan to go back. Maybe you will improve.

Dreadful.
We visit family in Flat Rock, and we first tried Kelsey's two summers ago (2004). That time I had the grouper, one of my favorites, and it was the worst I've ever had anywhere. Overcooked and tasteless. The vegetables were bland and mushy, and the service was terrible.

We went back last week (October 2006), and this time I had the trout. It was beyond bad. Overcooked to the point of being dried out. As before, the vegetables were bland and mushy, and the service was terrible.

At the end of our meal, out waiter suddenly appeared for no apparent reason except to say that he was really tired because he'd been kept awake by his new baby. He was never around when we needed him before, and we thought perhaps this was his thinly veiled plea for a generous tip. If it was, it didn't work.    [09 Oct 2006 16:00:56]

It's Great - Very Consistent
It was recommended to us by a friend, and we've only been disappointed once in the 20-30 times we've been there. That one time was due to a new waitress who frankly wasn't up to snuff by Kelsey standards, and we let the manager know about it afterwards, and the situation's been handled from what we've seen in subsequent visits.

The bar is nice, but many times the bartender is overly busy. However, the drinks are well-made every time.

Service in the main restaurant is a delight (and always has been with the one exception mentioned above). The food is wonderful, and we highly recommend the house salad dressing. I wish the roast beef was available more often.
The crab dip is wonderful and if they don't give you enough bread to go with it, save it and spread it on your steak!    [29 Oct 2006 15:37:10]

I Love Kelsey's
My husband and I eat at Kelsey's regularly. The staff always makes us feel right at home and the food is always good. I can honestly say that of all the restaurants we visit, Kelsey's is the best and most consistent. Occasionally I eat at Binion's or go to Asheville, but prefer Kelsey's because I really like their pasta dishes and salads. Kelsey's has been a favorite in town for over 20 years. That says a lot!    [01 Nov 2006 11:10:12]

Great Food, Great Price
I took my grandmother to Kelsey's for her 80th birthday. She loved the Carolina chicken, sauted mushrooms and corn pudding. I was thrilled the menu prices are realistic considering food quality and overall beauty of the restaurant. We ate by the waterfall. What a wonderful treat!    [06 Nov 2006 13:18:47]

THE MANAGEMENT THERE REALLY NEEDS SOME HELP
I have been coming to this restaurant for many many years back when there was actually really good management. Well to be truthfully honest with you it has definately went down hill I was there about 6 weeks ago and I was there with my husband and family. First thing we noticed was the very low sanitation grade. Secondly was the cleanliness. The waitress was a bit overworked and could not get to us as we needed her. The only person who I can remember at the top of my head who did a really good job was the hostess she attended us to all of our needs when we needed her and she was not even our waitress. She gave us all the assistance we needed we think she deserves a raise over anybody working there, and I believe she was the only hostess and it was a real busy night. GET IT TOGETHER KELSEY'S!! The manager by the way was very rude and not very helpful to her employees!    [28 Mar 2007 14:57:58]
