Description

Owners Lindsay and Joe Lewis offer a wide variety of dishes at a reasonable price amid a pleasing dining atmosphere -- and its all available right on Main Street in downtown Hendersonville. The menu ranges from appetizers and sandwiches to steaks and seafood. House specialties include short ribs slow braised in red wine and trout crusted with sunflower seeds. Chef Joe Lewis brings in locally grown organic vegetables plus trout from nearby Western North Carolina trout farms.

The restaurant is open seven days a week for supper plus Sunday brunch served from 11 AM to 3 PM.

Great food!
We ate at Square One for the first time last night and thought it was fantastic food. It was a Thursday night around 8pm and the place was not as busy as I thought it should be. Two had spare ribs, one had (Sunburst) trout and I had sausages. All the food was outstanding! Very gourmet and reasonably priced. I would compare the food quality and menu to Grove Street Cafe. Excellent food!
The only thing I'd complain about is the decor. It's the same as Gypsy Cab and the Italian place left it, basically, with better art on the walls and better lighting. I think they need a new look so the crowd doesn't get that distaste from the former restaurants that were there.    [08 May 2008 09:51:05]
