I have dined at this restaurant in High Point in the past at lunch. I was really looking forward to my pasta dish with shrimp and sausage. I decided to get it as a take out item. The shrimp was so fishy that it overpowered the meal and I threw it out. I live quite a distance to have made the trip to return it. I stopped on Monday 4/14 to let the manager know and he was not concerned except to tell me they had no other complaints. I will not be stopping there in the future. Just thought for 20.00 I could at least get the satisfaction of telling you! Thanks    [15 Apr 2003 15:24:05]

Recent Steak Street High Point Visit
Recently dined at the Steak Street in High Point on Hwy 68 as I was in town on business re. our new Fedx hub and could not have been more impressed by the service, food, and decor. If Steak Street is any indication of the rest of the restaurant facilities this area has to offer we will be extremely pleased with our move from Memphis. Simply impeccable. Actually ended up eating at this Steak Street 3 times in the 4 days I was in town. I hear they have a new larger one open in Greensboro with a different theme, Key West theme I think my server informed. Cannot wait to come back next month and visit them both. Until then kudos to Steak Street and keep on grilling up the fabulous food.    [22 May 2003 17:20:55]

Disappointed
Very disappointed with overall experience. Service was poor (waitress forgot 4 things). Not impressed with overall food selection or taste (however, the kabobs and Maryland crab cakes were very good). Tip of 18% required with party of 6 or more - despite poor service.

Hidden Treasure
My first experiences at Steak Street were a few years ago when I was invited with a group from work for lunch. I was very surprised at the attentive service, great food and the cozy feel of the restaurant. I later dined with friends or met friends at the bar for half priced appetizers and continued to enjoy myself. I put myself through college waiting tables in Greensboro so I can respect and enjoy a non chain, non corporate restaurant such as Steak Street. Sadly, I did learn while waiting tables a few years back that Greensboro overall is a city that only supports big chain restaurants and people are afraid to try something new. I'm equally sad to read that the person in the Feb 2004 review did not get to enjoy Steak Street as I have on dozens of different occasions. I do find it funny though that their menu said the salmon was served rare...the Grilled salmon is one of my favorite dishes when not eating one of their aged marinated steaks, but never once have I read it served rare? I truly think anyone who hasn't dined at Steak Street find out about the hidden treasure out on 68.    [06 Mar 2004 22:35:33]

Never Again
Feb 13 was the day of our visit since we were staying right next door at Ashford Suites. We were two in the party and ordered steaks along with some sides and drinks.
For some reason one table was getting all the attention which had a different waiter than ours. Our waiter didn't seem to be willing to check on the party he was waiting on, so we had to locate him each time we wanted something.
My friend ordered a Steak worth $28.00, to be prepared medium rare but it was partially burnt. I always get my steaks well done, and I eat steaks very often. This was the first time ever that the steak (Carriage House ribeye, to be precise) was served to me completely burnt. I was very surprised that some one would even attempt to serve such a steak, but I took a bite anyway. It was burnt, bitter and the worst steak ever.

I called the waiter and pointed this out to him, he said that it was the marination which burnt but he took it away when I asked him to taste it himself or get a second opinion. Five minutes later, the restaurant manager came up to my table and admitted that it was burnt by saying, "it was pretty charred", he asked me if I wanted to eat something else or the same. I told him that the only reason we were there was because it was a steak house and that I would like to have another one. Approximately 20 minutes later another burnt steak was delivered, just a little less burnt than the first one. It was already past the closing time so nobody really cared what our dilemma was and so there was no use complaining again. I ate half the steak (I was really hungry) and left the rest for them to realize what just happened for the second time. When the check arrived, waiter told me that the $25.00 were taken out for the bad experience and long wait, so I thanked him and gave him the plastic out of my wallet without looking at the check in detail (my fault!) When the completed transaction came to me for signature, I realized that they had charged me for both the steaks (the burnt one and the one not so burnt) and then taken out $25.00. When I mentioned that to waiter, he started to argue. Thus, I left the restaurant by showing my disappointment and letting the waiter know about deceiving tactics with the check.

I have only one thing to say, and that is "Never again!"    [06 Apr 2004 07:21:22]

When I Am in Town - Steak Street
I work with RF Micros and I travel to Greensboro about two times a month - from Boston. I guess I am one of the lucky ones because I have yet to have a poor experience at Steak Street.

It always appears to me that the staff is attentive, the food is awesome and the atmosphere is incredible! I hope that some of the folks above decide to try Steak Street again in the
future. Anyway I have always enjoyed it.    [11 Jun 2004 20:46:40]

A Really Pleasant Visit
My wife and I visited Steak Street for the first time and were pleasantly surprised! Having just read some of the previous comments, I am fortunate that we visited prior to finding this site, we most likely would have not gone. We found the experience very enjoyable! We look forward to visiting again in the future!    [17 Jul 2004 21:53:37]

A Must
For once our party didn't have to scream over the music! The atmosphere was outstanding. Our waiter suggested a steak, that was perfect. Cooked as ordered and seasoned with a house marinade, very enjoyable. The dinners arrived hot and in a timely manner. The waiter made sure that we had everything we required without being a pest, also his arrival wasn't timed with a mouthful of food. We will make the stop next time we are passing through the Triad Area.    [05 Mar 2005 22:13:29]

Steak Street - Incredibly Unique
How do I describe such a fabulously unique restaurant? This place is truly one of a kind, offering the most cozy, romantic, ambience I have ever witnessed in all my travels. Let their many and consistent awards speak for themselves with awards such as Best Steak of the Triad, Best Marinated Steak by Eastern Traveler Magazine, 2005 Wine Spectator Award, Best ambience, etc. The only thing I have ever found wrong with this place is they have not franchised and put one in my hometown of Chicago. This truly is much much more than your average dark wood Chicago steakhouse. Continued Success Steak Street! I will always dine with you every visit to the Triad.    [19 May 2005 20:17:07]

Wow, What an Awesome Place
I just completed my first dining experience this weekend while attending the NCAA Basketball Super Regional in Greensboro and all I can say is, wow! We had our alumni party there consisting of 42 people which the hostess promptly sat as we paraded upstairs to a Mardi Gras decorated room which served us perfectly.

Our service staff of what seemed to be 5 or 6 servers were all extremely knowledgeable, and excited about what their restaurant had to offer us. All our drinks, many, appetizers and meals were some how incredibly served within minutes from time of ordering. Not one person in our party left a morsel on their plates as everything experienced, which seemed to be one of everything on their menu, was simply incredible and bursting with flavor. Wow what a chef- whom I am told recently joined Steak Street from Charleston, SC.

I failed to find out if there are other Steak Streets or who the owners are so I hope they read this so we can say thank you! This was the best meal from start to finish, bar none, that our alumni group has ever had the pleasure fun and excitement of experiencing. We can only hope our school can once again make it to the NCAA Super Regionals and pray they will be held in Greensboro so we can get back to Steak Street as soon as possible. Otherwise we may all get together and buy a franchise so we can build a Steak Street in our city. Highly, highly recommended! You cannot go wrong with anything, beef or seafood, on their menu.    [21 Mar 2006 17:38:32]
