Better pizza is nearby! I was severely disappointed in this restaurant. The buffet contained exactly one vegetarian pizza, which was a pizza with cheese, and some small broccoli pieces. Of course, when I asked my waitress to put another vegetarian pizza on the buffet, she agreed immediately, and instructed the kitchen to make a vegetable pizza. However, even though I paced myself, and waited for the promised pizza, none appeared by the time I left (an hour later). The pizza that was on the buffet was flimsy (I like a crisper crust), the cheese was almost tasteless, and the sauce was plain and almost unnoticeable. The friend who ate with me (a wild fan of pizza) had pepperoni and cheese, and said this also tasted very cheap, not having the flavor one would usually expect. The pull of this restaurant is evidently that the pizza is cooked over a wood fire, but I would recommend ANY pizza place over this one [24 Feb 2002 12:18:25]

Great wings! I feel that the Brick Oven has the best chicken wings around! They take awhile, but it is well worth the wait!!! Bueatifull interior, nice murals and brickwork. Wings are large and fried crisp to perfection. Good Job. [08 Dec 2004 19:13:09]

Nothing beats the Brick First of all addressing a previous review, how many veggie-only options do you REALLY expect in the South, let alone the pig-farm capital of the U.S.???). I've been frequenting "The Brick" for six years and, though I live out of state, even now head back into town AT LEAST once per month to partake of the amazing Italian buffet (oh yeah, the previous poster fails to acknowledge - let alone evaluate - the other items on the buffet like pepperoni rolls, the complete veggie/salad bar, pasta salads, oliver bar, etc.). I have NEVER had problems ordering specialty items on the buffet, and they even make a "well done" pie for those into thin/crisp crust. I've ordered it in the past ... and it typically takes 10-15 minutes to arrive. (Does the previous poster want the Brick Oven to manufacture a pie in 5 minutes?? This is the South, we move a bit slower ... but dayam ... it DOES take some time for specialties to arrive!!!)
Second, the pizza buffet, in particular, is CHOCK FULL of options. From taco pizzas and three-meat pies to alfredo-sauced selections and classic pepperoni/sausage/veggies and cheese, the Brick Oven is nothing, if not pluralistic in its offerings.
The wait staff is great ... lots of family-oriented people who have worked there for years. They're quick, polite and thorough.
And, the "celeb" factor - as much as one can get in central NC - is another bonus at the Brick. Oftentimes, Mon-Wed, before NASCAR terams head to the next race, Kevin Harvick's #29 (Nextel Cup) and #21 (Busch Series) teams can be found enjoying the buffet. Twice I have seen Kevin himself (along with wife Delana and her folks) in the Brick. Dang it, previous poster: if the Brick is good enough for Kevin, for the sweet li'l town of Kernersville (K-Vegas to us regulars and residents), and a jam-packed (on a daily basis!!!) lunch crowd that draws from Winston-Salem to Burlington (and , shoot, in my case from Washington, D.C. on a monthly basis) ... then it's GOOD ENOUGH FOR YOU!!!!
Next time - if you want to be picky -try not paying $5.95 for an AYCE establishment!! If you want vegetarian, Greensboro has some upper-end places. (I guffaw to myself: vegetarian in NC hahahahahahaha)
Aight, this is the Brick Oven's number two fan (my wife has me beat) signing off! [14 Apr 2005 23:50:47]
