Judge's Waitresses Unfairly Blamed
In response to an earlier review that praised the food but not the service at Judge's, I would like to speak from experience. As a waitress at this restaurant, I found it an overall pleasant atmosphere. The staff is comprised of friendly, caring people who do their best to make sure each person's visit to the restaurant is pleasurable. Many times, however, waitresses and managers get blamed for things that are not their fault (as happens in most restaurants, I'm sure). It often takes what customers consider a long time to get the food to the table, which in return leaves us with complaints and low tips. People do not understand that smoked meat takes a long time to cook, and that fresh side items do as well.

It is a classic example of one of the American population's downfalls: impatience and the desire for instant gratification. They want fresh food, but want it to be made in record time. We must realize that good food comes at a price, and (to be cliché for a moment) we cannot always have our cake and eat it too. So the next time you read a review putting down slow waitresses, take a moment to think of what is really going on. For, ironically, waitresses never look slow to me. They are normally running around so fast that things often get dropped. So, customers, as you dine at Judge's (or any other restaurant), show consideration and a little empathy to the staff, for they are trying their hardest to show it to you.    [29 Nov 2001 10:39:12]

Out o bizwax
Judge's was a family favorite for years but unfortunately, went out of business last year after the majestic Catawba River flooded leaving a muddy mess behind.    [08 Aug 2005 23:17:53]

Judges Back In Business!!!
Judge's has re-opened and I just have one thing to say, WOW!
Everything is brand new and the food is even better than before, if that was possible. The new additions to the menu such as the "Wildflower," or bloomin onion, and the ribeye steak is back along with numerous other favorites. I was so pleased with my dining experience. The staff was so courtious and the food was delicious. I will be returning very soon and very often.    [13 Feb 2006 19:01:24]

Rebuilt and WOW
Does anyone know if the deck is new? I don't remeber the deck being so beautiful. I know it was an awful mess after the flood. And if the deck is new, who built it, I need that person for my deck    [05 Jan 2007 08:36:59]

A series of bad experiences
Many years ago I used to love Judges. Now after a series of bad experiences with the food and service I try my best to avoid going there even when people suggest it. Overall, I think the menu needs to have more choices for lunch. The service is not good and is slow - impossible to order, eat and get back to work within an hour. I also don't like the sauce - it now has onions in it - bad move    [11 Mar 2008 13:31:52]
