On the way down & out
4 years ago, we dined at Cafe Luna, with a pleasurable experience. My girlfriend also had dined there in the same period of time with her daughter who was visiting from out of town.
On the way out I discussed area restuarants with the owner/manager, who commented that there were only 7 or 8 decent places in Raleigh, implying that his was one of those 8.
Valentine's 2004, was another story.
I'll spare the gorey details, but in a nutshell it was a train wreck meal. From indifferent wait staff, to bumbling busboys running food out who couldn't speak English, playing the food auction (I HATE WHEN THAT HAPPENS), to fish kept around long after its lost its welcome. The mere fact of the matter is that Moore Square has lost its foothold on the downtown scene, and is no longer a destination. Glenwood South has sprouted up aggressively in the last 3 years and robbed any remainder of downtown patronage. Considering its only 4-5 blocks over, its understandable. Raleigh and the area has grown commerically in leaps and bounds and there is such a great offering of restaurants here now. Save your money, time, and heartache. I've heard too many bad experiences of Cafe Luna from friends of late.    [04 May 2005 03:31:10]
