Food was great! Our waitress was great...at first. She started out very bubbly and cute. She later turned into Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde. When asked to bring more green beans and apples, she stated "Would you wait a minute". She also told someone at our table after they asked for more water, "yeah, whenever I get a chance". She practically threw the food at us. Some of us had empty glasses at the table, mine was never refilled. A lady at our table got up and started pouring drinks for everyone and our waitress yelled at her when she returned. In her anger, she poured coffee for a friend and it almost landed in my lap. The food was wonderful and I enjoyed what I had but some of the waitstaff was very unprofessional. [04 Feb 2007 08:23:52]

Awesome Treasure The Caro-Mi is a hidden treasure in North Carolina, about 35 minutes south of Ashville off I-26. We have been eating there for over 15 years when vacationing at White Oak Mountain.
One aspect that I have always enjoyed is the relaxed atmosphere and seeing that same simple menu on the thick "cardboard" paper. No frills and thrills, no fancy marketing...just damn good food with friendly service.
I highly recommend the fresh trout, which has the final cut done at your table side. And the homemade coleslaw on crackers is beyond words, you just have to taste it for yourself.
The owner, Charles Stafford, always treats you like family. And the entire staff is great! You can't go wrong with its rustic log cabin dining appearance and 5-star food. [20 Feb 2007 23:38:13]

Above and Beyond What can I say about Caro-Mi? The food is always great, the service? well, we have had good and poor service, but the ambiance is never lacking. Out last trip there was absolutely fabulous. The service was great, and the hospitality couldn't be touched. I highly recommend this down home Southern restaurant. [23 Mar 2007 08:38:02]

Stunning I was visiting NC from Burbank,CA to see an old friend. She suggested Caro-Mi and I could not have been happier. What a beautiful setting - truly 99.9%
The family style dining with shared veggies, macaroni and slaw was a quaint touch and the trout, ham (Carolina salty) and chicken livers are as good as I've ever had.
The staff was kind and attentive - not sure what went on with the bad review people. [04 Apr 2007 21:57:24]

Caro-Mi Great Restaurant. Food is fantastic and service is awesome. Plan a little extra time to sit on the covered porch that over looks the Pacolet River and enjoy... This restaurant does not accept credit or debit cards. Cash or check only. [14 Nov 2007 23:56:49]

Best Chicken Livers on Earth I am a native to Columbus/Tryon area - the chicken livers and slaw are to die for!!!!! Mrs. Stafford was one of my teachers in school - always treated like family there. Go early though the livers don't last all evening they usually run out quick. I try to eat there as much as possible. One day I plan on trying the trout - just never can get past those livers. not what it used to be I've been eating at Caro-mi with my family for years and years. The covered bridge, the river views, the country cooking with large portions of salads and home made veggies keep people coming back again and again.
Over the past year we have noticed a decline in service and food quality. The servers seem overworked and on edge when it is busy. We still eat there from time to time but it's definitely not what it used to be. [29 Jan 2008 23:06:44]
