The Pine Crest Inn and Restaurant is a beautiful place with rooms in the main inn and romantic cabins, wide porches, lovely grounds and a AAA Four Diamond restaurant. The menu is American gourmet and they have an excellent wine list.

Sorry Service Ruins an Otherwise Lovely Evening It is hard to imagine a restaurant with the coveted AAA Four Diamond award providing sorry service but it can happen. We had reservations, as did several other groups, and were all left at the hostess stand until one of us peered into the restaurant to see if someone was going to seat us.
After we were seated we were left to enjoy the ambiance for five minutes or so before we were first visited by a wait person and a few more minutes after that before water was poured. Overall, we were there for almost ten minutes before being given a glass of water.
Once our very pleasant waiter arrived we ordered Fried Green Tomatoes for a starter and loved it! About ten minutes after we were done with our starter, the waiter came back to finish taking our orders.
The salads were slow coming (about another fifteen minutes) but were very yummy. The lamb chops were fabulous, the trout was great, and the beef tenderloin was ordered medium rare and served well done. It took a while to find a wait person but they were kind enough to take the steak back, unfortunately the second steak they brought out was also well done. It was very dissapointing to pay $30 for an entree that was not edible but it is worth noting that the pimento cheese on the steak was quite tasty.
Overall, the service was painfully slow with long lapses between visits, nobody checking to make sure everything was okay, empty water glasses, and we actually had to waive someone over twice for assistance. It might also be worth noting that despite the fact we told the wait person about my well done tenderloin, they did not volunteer to remove it from the bill.
The setting was lovely and the food was good but if the service issue is not addressed I see the AAA award being in serious jeopardy. [02 Jul 2006 12:10:40]

Avoid this inn! Internet did not work; they did not care. We were asked to reserve a time for breakfast, but they made us wait thirty minutes when we arrived on time; told us to have coffee in the living room, but the coffee urn was empty. Thirty minutes later, they sat people who just walked in while we were still waiting. They promised our room would by cleaned by 1pm, but it had not been touched when we came back at 3pm. Need I go on? They just kept apologizing, very nicely, but fixed absolutely nothing. don't go there if you expect any kind of service or amenities. A large tour group on the second day caused us to have to wait again a long time for breakfast. Again, lukewarm coffee, dried out toasts,etc... [31 Oct 2007 20:14:37]

Royalty for an evening! My wife and I went to Pine Crest Inn for dinner last Saturday and had a PERFECT experience! Michelle was our server, and made excellent recommendations throughout the evening. We started off with the baked Vermont goat cheese and crab cake appetizers, Lamb Chops and Filet for our entrees, and Creme Brulee for dessert. From beginning to end, it was a perfect night. Thank you!!! [22 Mar 2008 11:25:46]
