BEST BBQ ON THE PLANET
GOODY COLE'S IS AUTHENTIC PIT BBQ WHERE
ALL MEATS ARE SMOKED LOW AND SLOW FOR OVER 12 HOURS.
YOU WON'T FIND BETTER BBQ ANYWHERE!    [21 Feb 2006 18:09:33]

I wish this place were better, but alas...
Friendly owner needs to make a few adjustments. Biggest one is that the meat is too heavily smoked (I like smoke, but this is too much) and the ribs are a bit chewy. If you've been to The Muddy River in Portsmouth or KC's in Manchester, you'll be disappointed with what you find here. The turkey is good as are the leaner pieces of brisket (some are way too fatty.) The BBQ sauces here need more character, especially on the spicy end of the spectrum. Sides are fine, as is the location. This is a place I want to see survive.

My suggestion to the owner would be to find a way to reduce the intensity of the smoke while upgrading the quality of the ribs. Have a taste-off against the competition and see what people think. I know the low-n-slow crowd like to do things their own way, but sometimes the customer is right.

I live in Exeter but unfortunately find myself travelling for better BBQ on a regular basis. Off to Portsmouth tonight.    [20 Oct 2006 16:39:36]

I don't know if you know what barbecue is
I don't know what Anonymous is talking about as it is the Hickory flavor smoke that separates Goody Cole's from the bland Muddy River. I would suggest that you want grilled foods rather than Barbecue. I found Goody Cole's to be the best around and the Manchester Union describes it as the best in New England thats how I found this gem! If you need more go to pigtrip.net if you don't believe me. The best ribs I have had in years. Maybe you came on a bad day!

KC's??
Is that guy serious!!!?? Everyone has their own tastes. I live in Manchester and drive out to Exeter to eat at Goody Coles. Last time I checked KC's didn't even have Brisket on the menu. You want more character out of the sauces, mix the hot with the sweet, they complement each other well. Not to mention they have the best cornbread around. If there's better PLEASE LET ME KNOW, because cornbread is my fav.
I highly recommend Goody Coles.
