This Inn has one of the most beautiful river swimming holes I've been to. Te Inn itsef is right on the river and is very private yet close to Conway and the surrounding mountains. We had room 15 (I hear Room 31 is one of the nicest) and our room was large, attractive and we had a small deck where we could sit and listen to the sound of the river. At night, the river lulled us to sleep. The Inn itself is quaint and attractive. The hallways are narrow (because it's an old Inn) and some of the rooms look small but appeared to be very comfortable and homey. We were tremely pleased with our room. The pool and facilities are nice. We were disappointed the jacuzzi wasn't working. The grounds are pretty with benches along the river and a walking path to the swimming hole. As you eat breakfast, the birds and especially the squirrels raiding the bird feeders outside the windows provides entertainent for everyone. The service was good but we were upset when they changed our dinner reservation from 6 to 6:30 and did not call us. My honest impression of this Inn is it could be at least a 3 star Inn with a little more attention to details. The Inn is attractive, the grounds full of natural beauty and again, a great location. The food was good. If you buy a package deal - beware - dessert is not included which was a surprise to us and added over $50 to our final bill! All in all, I would recommend this Inn and would definitely visit it again. If you love swimming holes and the sound of rivers at night - visit this one

This is the worst dining experience ever. For almost $200 per night--this is what we got--The owners were rude, yelled at us, overcharged us..dinner reservations were delayed over an hour and it took them 4 hours to serve us a meal. Wait between salad and meal was an hour and no one checked to see if we needed water or drinks. They blew out the candles during our meal. Website said vegetarian options but waitress was too scared of the overworked chef to ask him for it. Very disappointing. [02 Jan 2004 11:59:39]

Horrible Worst meal I ever had. They even burned my two year old's hot dog beyond recognition. The food was ridiculously over priced and completely inedible. We were starving and couldn't eat anything [18 Aug 2007 16:21:18]

Greatest Meal Ever. Last week me and my wife visited the Dana Place Inn. The inn was beautiful, a little bit old looking but romantic as anything. The food was amazing, the duck was crispy and delicious, the twice baked potatoe was scrumptous, and the vegetables where fresh and cooked to perfection. All in all it had to be the best meal I've ever had. [23 Sep 2007 17:10:14]

Raw Chicken. Yuk. Dana Place used to offer an amazing dining experience but not anymore. I ordered their Brandied Apple Chicken and after I'd eaten about 1/4 of it, I cut into the thick part of the breast and discovered raw meat. Not a little pink, it was raw We were the only ones in the joint and now I know why. The waiter was colder than the north pole. Eggs Benedict at breakfast (included in the room rate) still had the plastic casing on the ham, even though it was covered with eggs and sauce. Ordered a margarita in the bar and recieved a martini. Remember, we were the only ones there so wasn't a mix up due to a too busy staff. We'll never return. Dining area is dingy with soiled, faded carpets and worn, soiled chairs. It clearly is showing a lot of neglect. [08 Oct 2007 15:42:13]

We Were Disgusted and Disappointed. Huge spiderwebs hanging over the table Toast burned and soggy - soaked with melted butter. Pancakes burned Omlet - "chef will surprise you time after time" - cheese and cheese and bacon Dirty glasses. Nasty... [18 Feb 2008 09:39:57]

Smell Of Mold & Check Your Credit Card Statements We took our 2 year old son to Story Land last month and a friend had recommended this place as it was away from the N. Conway traffic.
The room looked like a dorm, two full size beds with cheap carpeting, bedding and other fixtures. The carpet smelled musty and the ice bucket smelled of mold and still has water in it. They did not turn the heat on for us so we had to wait a good two hours for the room to heat up. So to put it plainly ... the room was horrible, close to those motels you see in horror movies.
The breakfast was ok ... I can cook better with one eye open, I'm glad we did not try and do dinner here I guess they received good reviews for their dinner back in the early 1980's, whatever.
The prize for staying there was getting charge for four nights when we only stayed two. I took two weeks for my wife to get a call back to then be told that they would look into it. Her credit card company advised to dispute the charge now which she did. Sadly they are either oblivious or they are crooks.
Do not stay here ... it is not worth the price and I would not stay again even if it was for free. [10 Nov 2008 23:49:53]
