Food was only mediocre and service stunk! Admittedly my boyfriend and I were looking for a quick stop on a trip from Maine to Boston. We couldn't find an open sandwich shop in Portsmouth so we decided to try the smokehouse. The service was S-L-O-W, I think they forgot to submit our order, and the food was only so-so. Great beer selection if that's your thing. [28 Apr 2006 07:01:53]

Drink the Beer - Skip the Food Ate there on Saturday Afternoon, 17 February 2007. The beer selection was good, but the food was poor. Three of us ate there. The hickory smoked chicken was baked in an oven with BBQ sauce - no hickory flavor whatsoever. The Baby Back ribs were totally dried out during cooking, then slathered with sauce. Notably miserable. The brisket was dried out and drowned in sauce. The beef ribs were the fattiest things I have ever been served. The beans were lackluster - Bush's Beans out of the can would have been better. Cornbread and Sweet Potato fries were the highlight of the meal.
I would go back to drink - but forget about the food. Truly awful. [17 Feb 2007 18:50:36]
