Absolutely Wonderful
My friend and I visited in April. We found the food to be exquisitely presented and perfectly cooked. A nice, warm, romantic restaurant. Perfect for entertaining friends, family, special occasions and special business partners. We will definitely be back.    [21 Aug 2003 14:43:23]

Attention Gordon Ramsay and FOX!
There is a restaurant that is giving Hell’s Kitchen a run for its money! I thought that you ought to know that this restaurant is totally ripping off your idea by providing bottom-of-the-barrel service to its patrons. However, unlike your show where the potential (and I do mean “potential”) diners have some idea that a bad meal awaits, the patrons of Girasole are unsuspecting pawns (no, not prawns…we never saw those). While I don’t aim to speak for all diners of this establishment, I can sum up our experience to other travelers or locals who might entertain the idea of dining at Girasole.

In sum, we waited 2+ hours to finally receive our entrees from a surly waiter who couldn’t even provide us with the decency of bread, water refills (there might be a shortage…I’m not sure), or updates on what was happening in the kitchen. It was the closest that I ever came to being invisible (and that’s hard for a pregnant lady to do). We eventually heard about the kitchen delays from the other tables around us who were also fed (no, not in the literal sense) up with their service as well. The wise owners of Girasole had agreed to seat two huge parties on a Saturday night and still promised to serve those of us who made reservations in advance. It’s really no slight against Girasole that a restaurant its size can’t accommodate 15- and 22-person parties at one time. I don’t really know of a restaurant its size that could. The point is that they tried to serve these large parties and maintain normalcy for the remaining tables in the restaurant. Obviously, they failed. The situation would have been bearable if our waiter had the insight and brains to get a little creative with his tables (refer to the ideas of refilling water and providing bread mentioned above). This isn’t rocket science, but it sure felt that way at Girasole. After we told our waiter at 10:45 that we were going to leave if we didn’t see an entrée in 20 mins, we finally received our food at 11:00 pm. It was good food, so I have to give kudos in that regard. Unfortunately, good food does not encompass the whole restaurant experience. And, for those Hell’s Kitchen viewers… we were never even told what team we were on! What’s the fun in that??    [29 Jun 2007 12:23:02]
