Kind of expensive, nice service, one disappointment
I had dinner in the Cranbury Inn. It was very colonial looking inside. We had enough things to talk about just enjoying the scenery and the decorations. The staff was nice and polite, and every one thought their dinner was good.
The average price for the dinners was around $20.00.

I had the Ostrich Special, which was tasty. My wife had scallops and shrimp with pasta and enjoyed it very much.

Personally, I was disappointed because my wife asked for orange juice, and they served her some very watery "from concentrate" style juice with lots of ice, and it seemed sour as if the bottle had been there for weeks. My wife thought it was mixed with alcohol. This restaurant is too expensive not to serve some fresh "not from concentrate" juice, something like Tropicana.

If not for that minor detail, I would have no complaints.    [01 Sep 2003 11:49:08]

Excellent Staff
Cranbury Inn is a lovely, cozy restaurant. But, if not for the staff, it would not be worth the money. In particular, there's an extra special waiter named "Guy". If you're up for a lovely, winter-time evening and extra-friendly service, ask for Guy.    [29 Nov 2003 10:57:43]

Bring Back Yesteryear
Over the past several months I paid three visits to this worn-out historic inn. The menu was very pedestrian. The service was attentive and accomodating, but given the limited number of patrons in the restaurant each time, this was to be expected. The quality of the food was inconsistent from visit to visit. Perhaps because the same chef was not working on each of our visits or perhaps because the "chef" has had no formal culinary experience. We chuckled at the entertainment during one of our visits as the lounge singer with the bad toupee belted out "classics" for the dancing enjoyment of the over 90 crowd. The corners which are being cut by ownership are painstakingly obvious in this impressive building which gets more and more disaapointing as you peel away the layers to the core (kitchen). Given the prices and that which it tries to be, you are better off elsewhere.    [23 Nov 2004 14:16:06]

Don't bother with this way too expensive restaurant.
We visited on Valentines Day and it was one disaster after another. My filet was blackened to charcoal on one side, the food was very, very slow to appear and then it all was lukewarm. We were upstairs (after asking to move away from all the din of downstairs) and the waitress was such a dolt... she had to stand still, close her eyes and recite the available soft drinks for each table like it was remembering the 45th amendment to the constitution. Pretty annoying after the forth of fifth new table. I can't say enough about the poor quality and presentation of the food. By the time we left, the five or six tables of patrons were on a first name basis and were joking about who would be lucky enough to either get some food (even though it would not be what they ordered), get some bread, get their check, or get home before midnight.

We arrived a half hour before anyone else, and yet did not get our food first. The second couple arriving after us STILL didn't have their food by the time we paid our check and left. And can we talk about highway robbery for such an unpleasant experience?

I did talk to the manager and he was gracious but nothing can make up for very poor service, over priced food and inexperienced kitchen. We won't be back. Give Hannah and Mason's a try. Very expensive but, you at least get what you pay for!!    [26 Jul 2005 14:53:46]

Nice town but poor restaurant with lousy service
Set up 8pm Reservation for my wife and I. We arrived at 7:45pm and waited until 8:45pm to be seated. I complained 20 minutes into the wait (approx 8:20pm) and was told they were doing their best. I can't say with full conviction but I believe one of the waiters made a snide remark but wouldn't admit it when I asked what was said. We met our waiter about 10 minutes after being seated and ordering drinks. WE NEVER SAW HIM AGAIN! We had to call another waiter over after 20-25 minutes of waiting. I could go on and on about the poor service but for brevity's sake I won't. We didn't leave this overpriced and poorly run trap until shortly before 12am. Topping it all off was the fact that my steak was burned to a crisp on the outside. My wife's dish tasted awful as well. NEVER AGAIN!    [30 Sep 2006 16:31:04]

Good Food, Homey Atmosphere
We enjoyed dinner in this quaint, history-laden restaurant, which is situated in a picturesque town. The food was hearty and tasty, and the dessert we shared was fantastic.    [28 Jan 2007 10:16:58]
