Amazing
I love this place. Definitely get the hummus and then the Samdan Special Chicken. The hummus comes with a light drizzle of roasted pepper oil and freshly baked pita. The chicken is wonderfully light, with a yogurt and garlic sauce that perfectly compliments poultry. Not exactly a "kid proof" atmosphere, but they are kid friendly. A wonderful place to meet friends for an eclectic bite to eat. Oh, another cool thing: they bring the can of soda to the table, and then bring a BOWL of ICE! Well, I thought it was cool.... AUTHENTIC AND CONSISTENTLY GOOD!
We have been to Turkey several times and we seek out Eastern Mediterranean restaurants in our native New York metropolitan area, so you should do yourself a favor and seek out Samdan! The most enjoyable aspect of this cuisine is the metzelers (the appetizers) and salads. Do try the various eggplant dishes and our favorite, Tarama, a creamy Roe delight -- by dipping with your bread. You are in for a treat, enjoy!    [26 Mar 2004 09:07:04]

Even better than previous reviews imply
Please add to the above that the ambiance at Samdan is excellent, though not particularly ethnic: chandeliers, soft music, and very accomodating service. We use this restaurant for parties and festive occasions and there is enough variety in the menu for everyone. It is also open on Christmas Eve and doesn't charge special prices. I really like this restaurant. Just perfect. The food is excellent. The service is good. The people at the front desk are so nice and friendly. Samdan has been in Cresskill for more than 10 years. You should go there, don't wait another second.    [23 Jun 2007 00:37:05]
