This is not diner food This diner is one in a million. We are diner lovers and search them out to see if it's possible to get a delicious, non-greasy, not too salty meal. This place wins hands down, and the quality of the food will delight you. Our server was a young Russian fellow, who never disappeared and wanted to make certain that we were pleased. We ordered a full course dinner, which came with soup, salad, rolls, main dish, dessert, and coffee or tea. We both chose the vegetable soup. It was chock full of vegetables, it was not salty, and there was no grease floating on top. The salad was terrific. It was the usual fresh salad, but this also contained red onions, grape tomatoes, and tiny, tasty croutons. My husband asked for oil and vinegar on the side, and he was pleased to note that this was real olive oil. This is rare in a diner these days. My husband ordered the roast chicken, which was accompanied by some luscious stuffing -- again, not greasy or salty. His sweet and sour red cabbage was fantastic, as were the glazed carrots, which were nicely scented with cinnamon. My sauerbraten was the best I have had since eating in a German restaurant, and the meat was tender and delicious. I am not usually fond of sauces , but this one was perfectly delicious. The most amazing part of the meal was the potato dumpling. It looked just like the ones in photographs in German cookbooks. It was plump, beautiful, and delectable. The portions were large, and we had no room for dessert. This is a nicely decorated, comfortable place to eat. We are looking forward to our next feast there. [01 Oct 2007 14:42:08]
