Description
Johnny Carino’s Italian is a casual, full service Italian concept with an innovative menu featuring “Grandioso” platters and “Wine Harvest” dinners catering to families and dining parties of all sizes. Inspired from Southern Italian country recipes, the menu starts with appealing appetizers like the signature Pepperoni Bread, Bruschetta, Calamari and Italian Nachos. Entrees range from traditional favorites like homemade Lasagna and Pizzas, to featured items like Spicy Shrimp and Chicken, Italian Pot Roast, Baked Cheese Tortelloni, and Spicy Romano Chicken, all served with fresh baked bread.
The authentic, Italian dining experience for guests begins immediately upon entering the restaurant - antique framed family pictures, Italian ceramics, wood and stone walls, colorful mismatched wooden chairs and small intimate dining rooms offering booth and table seating. Carino’s open kitchen environment and exhibition cooking creates a warm, casual atmosphere that enhances the dining experience.

A Very good dinner My husband & I took advantage of the $21.99 dinner for two special. Food portions were generous and delicious. The only flaw was that the house salad dressing had a little too much of a vinegar taste for me. [22 Apr 2006 10:33:52]

POOR SERVICE I have eaten here on several occasions and usually had a positive experience except on 7/20/06. I took my two teen-age daughters to the Howell New Jersey restaurant for an afternoon lunch. Unfortunately, we received a very rude waiter. He didn't state his name but he had a thick foregn accent (possibly Italian or Romanian), was middle aged man with Gold Chains around his neck. He seemed very much in a hurry, even though the restaurant wasn't very crowded. He was actually reading us the menu, line by line (how insulting). We had just arrived there and I politely requested him to get us our drinks while we go over the menu ourselves. He came back with our drinks and I said we are ready and asked my 16 year old to start off. She paused and he told her that "You shouldn't say you are ready to order unless you are, I am very busy man" In addition to that, after we got our food he disappeared and we never even got a refill on our drinks, even though he said he would be back with additional bread. He just disappeared until he saw we were done eating. I actually needed to order another drink for my daughter because the water she had initially requested had a foul taste. I just wanted to get her a coke. Anyway, when the guy finally came back, we were done, so I asked for the check, gave him the minimal standard 10% tip (I usually am very generouse tipper but this guy was horrible). I think I will avoid that place for a while. Oh yeah, the food on this particular day wasn't very good either. [20 Jul 2006 19:13:41]
