Description
Hamilton's Grill Room is located off of Coryell Drive behind a shop named The Brass Monkey. The main entrance is through the alley, endearingly named "The Porkyard" for it's history.
Hamilton's Grill Room is a Mediterranean grill room featuring an open charcoal grill in the dining room.
There are a number of dining rooms including outdoor dining in season.
Although Hamilton's Grill is a BYOB, across the alley is the Boat House, a cocktail lounge. On Saturday night, the Boat House opens one of it's rooms to Hamilton Grill Room diners. If you are seated in this room, you cannot bring your own bottle, but have access to the full service bar of the Boat House. You will receive two bills, one for dining and one for cocktails.

The fresh seafood is grilled to perfection, attractively plated, and delicious to the eye and palate. The open kitchen is a delight. You can see your order prepared, grilled and served to perfection. Meat entree's are similarly prepared with care and that "extra touch." I can't wait to go back! [14 Sep 2001 15:46:32]

Hamiltons Grill Room may in fact be my most beloved dining establishment in the entire state. This may seem like a dramatic statement. However, the few times I've eaten at Hamiltons, I've always received; great service, exceptional food and the luxury of dining in one of the several unique dining rooms. The most recent experience I had at Hamiltons proved once again to be an excellent one. I opened my meal with Iced North Atlantic Oysters Mignonette. I chose the grilled branzino and melon salad as my entree. The melon salad complemented the fish perfectly, allowing for a sweet contrast to the deliciously smokey taste of the branzino. I closed my meal with a mediterranean grappa pastry accompanied by fresh blueberries. The service was flawless. Our waiter was very accommodating and knowledgable without the pretention that is occasionally associated with an award winning establishment. Hamiltons Grill Room is always a first-rate choice! Just be sure to make weekend reservations well in advance! [09 Oct 2005 16:59:26]

A Disappointment After hearing repeated terrific reports about Hamilton's, our dinner here Saturday evening did not measure up to what we expected. Our friendly and knowledgable waiter, Tommy, almost forced us to order a cold antipasti for the table to share, but he did not steer us wrong, it was terrific. But that did not make up for two overcooked and gristley ribeye steaks ordered by others at the table, the calamari appetizer I ordered but never appeared, and my kiwi sorbet that I had to ask for a second time after it never arrived with the other ordered desserts, which, by the way, were each excellent, especially the orange cheesecake and the late arriving sorbet. However, my grilled salmon, and my wife's skirt steak, both served with bearnaise sauce, as well as the bread served at the table, were each no better than average. [27 Mar 2006 10:51:53]

I have never had a bad bite here We decided on this place to celebrate our second wedding anniversary. We sat in the grill room, which was a little smoky but we enjoyed the chef's grilling prowess very much. I started with the white sweet potato soup garnished with blue cheese and sundried cherries. It was nothing short of perfect. Then the tuna. An amazing, perfect piece of fish on a bed of curried rice, topped with a mild green olive tapenade. Fresh and rare, it was heavenly. I will have dreams about this dish. The chef knows *just* how to make flavors marry, I raised my eyebrows at the combinations I just described, but trust me. My husband had the ribeye steak which was cut from a slab of beef right in front of us. He also had the salmon with chevre for an appetizer which he liked very much. The food, the atmosphere, the service, everything. This place is the total package. It's always been my favorite restaurant in the Lambertville/New Hope area, and for good reason! Horrible Oh! Horrible! I have always avoided this place due to the very limited menu. However, this particular night, April 11th, my favorite spot in Lambertville was closed; in fact just about everything except the pizza joint was closed so we went here. The salad was bland, that is the best I can say. Arugula with some creamy dressing and very thinly sliced mushrooms. Hello! This has no taste. How about a bit of tomato or a crouton? Then my maple glazed pork arrived swimming in butter. Where the maple was, I don’t know. In Vermont I suspect. Over all this is one of the worst meals I have had in a long, long time. And the smell from the grill - PLEASE! I do not want to smell everyone else’s dinner being cooked while I am eating. Keep the cooking and the smells in the kitchen. I will never go back here. Period! Rudeness! One of my primary critiques of this and Jim Hamilton's other restaurants is that he holds on to his employees forever. Now that may also be a reason to laud him, but the result here is people who really don't care how they do their jobs after 10 or 15 years. We have been to this restaurant a number of times and the last couple of years the service and food have gotten consistently worse. Great place when it started, but now they need a shake up. Terrible, terrible, terrible Looking at these previous posts, I guess I am in the same "boat" as the others. I will come back to that pun in a minute. My husband and I decided to try Hamilton's the other day, and basically felt the food was nothing but a fancy arrangement on a plate. I just ended up feeling like they were a superiorly over-priced Arbys! We have been to a number of restaurants in the area so we know what is worth it. We had a grilled caesar, which although unique was such a small portion, basically a leaf of romaine on a plate. We each had steaks, mine tasteless, my husbands was overcooked. Also, the server was sooo slow and that was after we waited an hour at the Boathouse which had ever worse service! It is such a shame because the Boathouse (the bar for Hamilton's) had such a neat decor but the fact was the bartenders there were completely rude. They had no idea how to handle people waiting for the restaurant. We were going to invite friends to meet there sometime but now I have definitely "x'd" them off my list. [26 Sep 2007 11:54:00]
