Fine French Bistro The list of evening specials tends to be longer than the simple menu. Of our four visits, we haven't been disappointed with any of the dishes. Favorite to date was a crawfish bisque. [11 May 2002 13:07:03]

Robbery without a gun! We made reservations in advance for a party of 9. We were squeezed into a dining area that would have comfortably fit 6. We had some large folks with us and it was very uncomfortable. There was plenty of room in another area, but we weren't offered to move. This is a small place... maybe about 500 sq ft. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. We order dinner, which was more expensive than downtown Philadelphia (they must think that Lambertville is Manhattan!) The desserts were limited and came on a menu without prices. Regular coffee arrived in a partially filled cup that was luke warm. When we got our bill, we realized why no prices were shown with dessert. A simple flan was $11 and regular coffee was $6 (Not even a mug... a regular 6oz coffee cup). The food was good, but in my opinion not worth the expense. As we got our bill and were trying to relax a little with our "coffee" we were asked to settle the check and leave, since their next seating had arrived. We were floored! We paid the check, which included an 18% gratuity and left. Normally, I ALWAYS add an extra tip when eating with a large group, but not this time. And to add another insult, the owner's wife had placed a "No war with Iraq" poster in the front window. I will never go back there.. if America is so bad, move back to France... you certainly don't mind holding up your patrons for the food you prepare. Don't forget your cash or check... they don't take credit cards [27 Mar 2003 12:00:07]

Faux French I have never been a big fan of Manon's. The space seems crowded and very cramped. It also always seems dirty and dusty. The food has been okay, but nothing write home about. We have friends however, who LOVE it. So they made reservations for 8 of us for Sunday brunch. Again we were squeezed into a table for six and nobody had any elbow room. I orderd a chicken breast in sauce and when it came it had an odd smell to it. I foolishy tasted it anyway and the minute the meat hit my mouth - I had to spit it out. It was spoiled! I told our waitress who was apologetic, but seemed afraid to return it to the kitchen. Finally she did and in a minute the owner/chef came flying out of the kitchen and slammed the plate back down in front of me, telling me the breast was perfectly fine. He was actually in a rage and screaming at me. I was stunned! Our table was stunned! Even our waitress and another waiter working the room came over and apoligized to me. I had to look (and smell) that spoiled piece of meat as the rest of the table finished their meals. When the bill came, the breast was included and the owner demanded I pay for it. I will never come back here. [02 Feb 2005 11:57:19]

Excellent food, charming atmosphere I have eaten at Manon at least five times and received excellent service each and every time. The restaurant is very small so reservations are critical. We've tried all of the seafood dishes, ranging from salmon to butterfish to perfectly cooked scallops. The mussels were wonderful and generously portioned. We can never finish our meals and always have take-home boxes for the leftovers. The desserts are homemade and the coffee is French pressed. I read some of the negative reviews and am shocked -- their anti-war sentiment makes me a happier customer. [20 Sep 2006 09:02:06]

My Favorite Restaurant in the Area I have had occasion to visit Manon 4 or 5 times - I've taken friends there for special events and just on regular dinner dates, but it has always turned into a special occasion!
The atmosphere is completely charming, with their "starry night" ceiling and fleur de lis here and there on the warmly tinted walls - the special window-seat table... it IS tiny, but that just makes you feel more fortunate for being among the diners. Of all the dishes I have experienced at Manon, I can't help myself when it comes to the lamb - Oh! Mon Dieu! Wood-grilled with a red currant sauce... a friend who said he NEVER ate lamb wouldn't even share a bite of his with me!! Lambertville has more than it's share of great eateries, and for me Manon is at the head of the list! [28 Nov 2006 12:16:05]
