It's worth the money.
This place is a special treat for me. The Chirashi Sushi, which I always end up ordering, is excellent. The fish is very fresh and just melts in your mouth. The appetizer list is really interesting, and I intend to try everything on there some day. Sunomono (raw fish/veggies in vinegar dressing) is really good since their fish is really good; the Nasu Dengaku (eggplant grilled in sweet miso sauce) is wonderful too. Everything I've tried here has been really high quality. It's a bit pricey, but definitely (more than) worth it on a special occasion.    [03 Aug 2001 22:50:43]

Spectacular Sushi
Really good sushi, and very creative dishes. This place is great. I spent almost a year trying to replace my old favorite sushi resturant when I moved into central NJ, finally I've found it. This place is top notch.    [02 Jan 2004 14:57:42]

Ota-ya is Fantasic
From the outside it's a bit deceiving, but I assure you, Ota-ya is nothing short of amazing!

Trhy the spicy rolls -- they are all fantastic. They certainly know how to make Spicy Tuna!

This place is my favorite, and I've eaten Sushi in NYC, Honolulu, and LA. The very best!    [19 Oct 2004 10:50:03]

We love Ota-Ya
This is our most favorite place to eat! It can be a little pricey, but it's definitely worth it! There's a small liquor store nearby, so you can get some sake, etc. to have with dinner.    [12 Jul 2005 14:37:04]

The Best Sushi That You Will Ever Taste!
I have been to many sushi places in the area but I have never found a place that even comes close. It is by far the best sushi I have ever eaten. I try to go at least once a week.    [30 Mar 2006 17:04:59]

The worst restaurant I have ever been in!
The manager was extremely rude. The waitress forgot about one of our friends, did not bring food, and did not apologize afterwards.
Dragon roll was that supposed to have eel, did not have any eel at all.
She knew that we wouldn’t leave a tip, so she added to our total and forced us to pay it, even though we didn’t like the service.
When we refused, she told us ”spend your tip on your medicine”.
Then she followed us to our car, wrote our plates number and scratched our car.
It sounds like a horror story, but this waitress is a psychopath.    [16 Apr 2006 19:21:59]

I had the same rude manager
We had a reservation and asked for a table against the wall. We arrived early, but were happy to wait 15 minutes beyond our reservation time, 8:45. When the host led up to a table in the center of a very busy room my husband nicely told him that we had requested a table against the wall. There were 4 available tables set up for 2 and he refused to seat us at one of those so we left. I mentioned to him that we have been coming since the day that they opened and the manager looked me in the face and laughed. The food might be good, but I agree with the Anonymous post above me, that they are a little crazy. Too many restaurants in Lambertville that actually care and want customers to waste you time and money at this restaurant.    [24 Jun 2006 14:55:11]
