I can't believe I'm still hungry. My husband and I went to Lorena's to celebrate our anniversary. We had been there when it first opened and though we loved the food, we felt that the wait staff hovered over us too much. This time the service was exceptionally good, but I had trouble with the size of the portions. I had the Artichoke heart, with eggplant puree and black olives as my appetizer and though it was quite good, the serving was a tiny and I finished eating it way before my husband finished his risotto with mushrooms. He, thankfully kept offering some of his food. My husband then had the slow Braised Pork Shoulder which he loved and which was a generous portion. I had ordered the Atlantic Black Bass with roasted artichokes, fennel and lemon infusion. Again, though fairly tasty my entree was incredibly small. Since I don't eat meat I could only nibble on the side dishes that my husband offered. We joked about my poor choice of menu items, but it was no joke at the prices they charge at Lorena's. For dessert we decided to share the Artisan Cheese Plate which consisted of a good variety of about 4 or 5 cheeses. However, the menu described that it as served with dried fruit. When it arrived the dry fruit was about 10 currants, not quite what one would expect. We used to go to Jocelyn's which was in the same location. This restaurant is often compared to Jocelyn's. There is no comparison. [23 Jan 2007 14:50:49]
