My Little Secret! I'm afraid to write this review for fear that others will find out 'my little secret'! Then, when others discover it, I may not be able to get seated and served immediately when I go there next.
Just to give you some background info, I am a Chinese-American born 40 year old woman who enjoys many different cuisines.
Joe's Peking Duck House (located in Marlton NJ) is absolutely OUT OF THIS WORLD! It is not only my favorite restaurant, but it is also my sisters', brothers', aunts' and nieces' favorite restaurant as well.
We live in PA and we are willing to drive any distance to get to it when the craving strikes (which is quite often lately). It's addicting!!!
They have it down to a science! From being seated immediately, to be served hot food within minutes, to the perfected freshness/flavoring/seasoning of each and every dish.
Every time my sister and I go to Joe's, we always say to them, "We don't know what we would do if anything ever happened to the restaurant".
It's not the fanciest restaurant in town, but who cares about the decorations when your face is buried in the food.
It's in a strip mall, so parking is available. If we have the energy afterwards, we will walk the mall and do some shopping as well.
We always leave HAPPY with our bellies full !!! [23 Sep 2003 19:11:03]

Great place! I concur with the prior review. This place is wonderful. The food is fresh, tasty, and it will have your mouth watering for your next visit. We live in Marlton, and we always look for an excuse to eat out there.
I especially like that they allow you to sort of make your own combination. A choice of meat, 4 veggies, and a choice of 8 sauces. Once you go there once, you're hooked!
Bon Appetit! [31 Oct 2003 19:04:11]

No comparison I've been a loyal customer of Joe's Peking Duck House in Marlton for over 15 years. It is the only Chinese restaurant I patronize. Once you find a great place, you keep going back. Owner Pat Lee, waiters John, Jason, and the chefs are a fine-tuned machine. Not a fancy place, just the freshest, most consistent quality and variety of authentic Hong-Kong inspired cuisine in the region. (Don't look for greasy fried noodles to dip in cheap duck sauce here). This is authentic Chinese comfort food. Simple and flavorful, not greasy or salty. Pat has just added several new items to the Dim-Sum menu and the regular menu, so now is a great time to check it out. Twice cooked pork and Jiang Yar Mein are 2 new items I've tried recently. Both are excellent. (I never get tired of eating here). The variety is extensive. The waiters are cool and service is always rapid. Once they get to know you, you'll be treated like family. Even the chefs will peek out from the kitchen and say hi. You can tell a great restaurant by the repeat customers. I always see familiar faces here. Lunch is quickly served and always satisfying. Great for business lunches. Families love the place because the kids get their food fast. The kids are happy and quiet, eating healthy stuff, so Mom and Dad get to enjoy their meal in peace. You won't break the bank here either. A great value. Try the signature peking duck and roast pork combo, any of the great soups, Dim-Sum on weekends, Salt Baked Squid or Spareribs, Singapore or Ha-Moon noodles, Quang Shiu Stringbeans, Grandfather Chicken (Spicy), on and on... Don't forget the dynamite jasmine tea. It's also BYOB, so you can bring your favorite adult beverage. Hey Pat, for all of the great meals, this review is my way of saying thanks! It's the least I could do. Keep it up! [29 Jan 2004 01:29:07]

Greatest Soup Ever I couldn't agree more with the last article. Joe's is the absolute premier place for Chinese Cuisine in the South Jersey area.
While it might not be the most "classy" place since the decor and size are somewhat limited, it more than makes up for that in the service and the quality of the food.
The service there is exceptional. My mom has been going there and the Philadelphia locations for as long as I can remember, and she knows the folks personally. But then again, I don't know many people who have eaten there who don't know the owner personally. His name is right on his shirt, but it doesn't stop him from introducing himself to every person that stops by.
The waitstaff is outstanding and I don't believe that I have ever had to wait longer than 10-15 minutes to get my food. The minute the water/coke/tea ran out, the waitstaff was on it like white on rice.
The food is nothing less than stellar every time I go. I honestly don't know how they do it, because while it takes them only minutes to prepare. Everything tastes like it took hours to season to perfection. If you have one dish there, let it be the soup. This isn't a cup of soup... it comes in a bowl close to the size of your head and contains the most delicious ingredients ever composed by man. Pat Lee is a Genius.
And while I said that the location is a bit small, they offer a full take-away menu that you can call ahead for.
I currently live abroad, and there are three things that I MUST do when i come home: 1. Get a Hoagie 2. Get a cheesesteak 3. Go to Joe's.
Tell your freinds, family, and co-workers. An outstanding buy for your buck! And trust me, you wont spend much! I'm going to stop now so you can get in a car and try it for yourself. [19 Oct 2004 13:27:54]

I am shocked at the good reviews I had heard good things about this place, and had tried every chinese place in town, and was shocked with what we received at Joe's. The hot and sour soup was neither hot, nor sour. It was heavy with sesame seed oil, and had odd tasting stock. The pan fried dumplings were wrapped in pancakes, interesting, looked good, but little filling and tasteless dipping sauce. I was so disappointed I took the pork filling out and tried it by itself and it was virtually tasteless. My son's beef and broccoli was goopy with too much corn starch, and the broccoli was way overdone. Horrible. The chicken in mixed vegetables was equally unimpressive. the 'veggies' were primary snow pea pods... I saw maybe one or two carrot slivers, and one or two stalks of something, and one little corn. The sauce was nondescript. Horrible. To top it off, it cost $65 to feed 3. I actually apologized to my family for getting this food. I gag just thinking about this experience. [03 Mar 2006 07:52:29]

New owner and newly renovated! The prior owner sold the restaurant to a long-time employee (one of the waiters) in 2007. He has just renovated the restaurant, which was needed for a long time. It looks great, and he has improved on some of the food as well! I was just there for Dim Sum and the BBQ Pork Buns were noticeably better. Well, they're made from scratch now (the prior owner bought pre-made buns, which were fine, but definitely not as good).
I recommend Joe's now, more than ever. It is a much more comfortable (and cleaner) atmosphere! [29 Sep 2007 12:31:10]

Amazing food, Excellent service, Great atmosphere I've been a repeat customer since childhood and every experience at Joe's has been awesome. No complaints whatsoever. Joe's elevates Chinese cuisine to new levels, so if your one of those people that repeatedly order "beef and broccoli" or General's Tso chicken I encourage you to experiment and try something new. That's when you will get the real Joe's experience. Also, try the prefix meals for 2 or 4 people. The portions are generous. My family of 5 is overly satisfied with the meal for 4 and most times we still have leftovers. [13 Oct 2007 22:05:39]

Love Joe's!! We travel from Delaware, and every mile, even at $3 per gallon, is worth it. Great food, great price point and great service. Any duck dish is outrageous, the WonTon Noodle soup is fantastic and the house special fried rice can not be beat. The Dim Sum is awesome, but there are no disappointments on the menu - all gold.
