Over priced food that is barely mediocre
I went with a party of 5 people. The food was mediocre at best and the prices are insane for the diminished quality. Another complaint is that the "door men" will demand a $10 per person cover charge even if you are there to eat dinner (which will cost a fortune) they tell you they will refund your cover charge if you present proof (by way of a receipt) indicating that each person ordered an entree. That means a person can spend over $30 in appetizers and still have to pay the cover charge because of the entree requirement, or if entrees are ordered you have to go through the process and embarassment of asking the "door guys" for a refund after documenting your proof of entree purchase (this is absolutely ridiculous). the spot is OK for drinks. The decor is nice and the music was good but overall the experience was disappointi    [04 Dec 2002 17:25:07]

OK but no Mediterro
Advertised as a spawn of the highly lauded Meditterro in Princeton, this place could only disappoint. The food is hit or miss with everything costing too much. It seems like the wait staff is stoned or confused or perhaps both. On the other hand, the mixed drinks and salsa music are good.

If it weren't so hard to find good Ceviche around here, I'd never go back.    [10 Jan 2003 17:25:11]

Great, Stupendous
Wonderful service, great atmosphere. Consider giving it a try. Most expensive entre is low 20's. Great food and music.    [03 Mar 2003 14:30:30]

Finally something original
My wife and I have been eating dinner at Nova Terra for a year now and absolutely LOVE it. The music is always great and the service is suprisingly almost like fine dining. The food has been great recently and overall the atmosphere is half Miami Beach, half Manhattan.    [21 Apr 2003 23:11:16]

Lack of Customer Attention
The atmosphere is Miami-like and it has very nice decor. Unfortunately, I didn't get the impression they cater much to their customers. They have different bands rotating each week, but they cannot tell you who will be performing or what type of music they play in advance. They outsource this task and lose control of knowing who will be playing. If you like certain music, be aware that it could be a hit or miss. Calling in advance will not help and they will not go through the effort of finding out for you.    [24 Oct 2003 13:22:43]

Unfriendly
Nice decor indeed, and the food is fine too. However, the staff desperately needs some training or the place will go out of business very soon.    [12 Nov 2003 14:21:43]

Over-priced and crowded
I just went there on Fri. Sept. 24th. The place had a 45 minute wait for 2 people. The doorman still collected a $10 cover charge despite that you were having dinner and drinks there. The food selection and prices were horrendous with the waitress spilling olive oil all over our table. I think this place was over-priced and only catered to those who wanted to impress people. Better places can be found for two people to dine and not have to fork over almost $115 for mediocre service and food.    [25 Sep 2004 12:43:55]

Much improved - excellent food, service
A couple of years ago, we had found the food to be uneven and the service to be mediocre to bad. We just went this Saturday evening and found a great change. The food was excellent, and the staff attentive, and they didn't charge us at the door upon hearing we were there for dinner.

The music was great as always, and the atmosphere was fun albeit a little too noisy for comfort. We'll be back :)    [25 Apr 2005 14:53:14]

Consistently Dissappointing
I agree with several of the other reviews, in that the food quality is not worth the price, the desserts were also too sweet and dissappointing (try a better quality of chocolate, the semifreddo had turned into to soup by the time it arrived). The staff is more than disappointing, in particular, the door staff are the rudest bunch of people I've ever met (and they are CONSISTENTLY rude). It's also unprofessional and embarassing to have to argue with the doorstaff when you would like to get your 10 dollar a person cover charge back, even though you insist that you are there to dine, and they even know you on a first name basis. I've been all over Europe, frequently make trips to New York, and live in South Beach several months out of the year, and have never been treated with such disrespect and callousness. I belive it is safe to say the entire wait staff's finishing school must have burned down, in particular the door staff, and are in need of intensive training immediately if not sooner.    [15 Apr 2006 01:01:48]
