Consistent quality over 30 year-period I've been a customer for over thirty tears and tony's has always been known for fresh, quality food. [27 Nov 2003 13:07:15]

Fresh Seafood and Excellent Service At a Family gathering, we ordered the following dishes: stuffed lobster tails in which the stuffing was too salty; king crab legs which was served with only 1 and a half legs ($26); beefsteak with shrimps, very good; chilean sea bass, very good; veal with bananas in madiera sauce, the veal could have been somewhat more tender; and the broiled seafood combination, very good. The sangria needed a bit more brandy as it was a little on the weak side. For an Ironbound restaurant, we thought the bill was too pricey. Parking across the street. Excellent service! Fresh seafood. Only complaint was the experience was too expensive [09 Mar 2004 22:23:44]

My family's favorite restaurant My family and friends make a game of finding the best restaurants. I hold bragging rights thanks to Tony da Caneca's. My friend Luis grew up in Ironbound and I asked where to go for Portuguese food. He recommended Da Caneca. Comfortable, friendly, great food, and moderately priced, we've been going ever since. It's the best! Thanks Luis. [15 Sep 2007 11:58:40]

One of my favorites since the mid-sixties I've been eating at Tony's since I was a child. I secretly judge NJ restaurants for several food critics in the area of Iberian cuisine. After 20 years or so to this day many restaurants begin with Tony's qualities, but after a couple of years in the business they fall off. Tony da Caneca is the only one that's been consistent, and even has improved its service. I judge using a 5 pt. system: Service, Quality, Price, Ambiance, and Quantity. Tony's score 4 1/2 points. Half a point for ambiance, but compared to it's looks in the 60's and 70's, it's a great improvement. I've had Spanish and Portuguese foods and wines throughout the world and Tony's is one of the best in the US. A few have better quality, some lower prices, other more quantity and a few with beautiful ambiance. But all five, only Tony's. [01 Nov 2007 12:48:40]

Oh yeah!!! Tony D's... My family has been going to Tony D's for decades! We are treated with the best of service and enjoy the best of Portuguese food! My personal favorite is the Mariscada, and I don't care what color sauce you put it in... Just put it! No matter what you wrap your tongue around, it's going to be awesome! [17 Jun 2008 16:51:01]
