Learn to Ruin Somebody's Appetite at Good Old Namaskaar
I stopped by to have some lunch at Namaskaar, but came out of the restaurant so angry that I felt like throwing up the food I ate right there. The manager of the restaurant is so impolite and arrogant that you can lose the desire to eat.

First of all, the food on the buffet was all cold and the naans were like rubber. My husband requested a fresh naan and in reply the manager said very rudely, "go get it from the buffet". That spoiled our appetite. My husband got the naan from buffet, but I refused to eat that cold piece of rubber.

My husband asked another person if I could get one fresh naan, and he was courteous enough to get it for us. My husband took the first byte of naan and a big hair was cooked into it. We called the manager again and complained that there was a hair cooked inside the naan. You won't believe what he said: instead of apologising he turned around and said get another one and walked away. I would have called the health inspector right there, and have him inspect the kitchen, but I controlled myself and left the food right there and walked to the front desk to pay for it. The manager came out and dropped the bill in front of us and walked away. How rude that could be? It's poor service in the extreme. I have eaten at many places, but this is the first time I walked out of an Indian restaurant hungry and mad.

I was going to bring my clients there for lunch, which I never will now. This restaurant seriously needs some smiling faces to greet the people while they serve the food, and a lot of hospitality. People don't got out and spend their money to get mad and look at the sad faces. The manager at this restaurant did a good job in ruining my mood and my day. I wiil never eat at Namaskaar ever again.    [02 Sep 2003 15:37:36]

Stressful Dining by Namaskar... Don't Waste Your Time or Money
I have never written a restaurant review before, but after my husband and I had such an awful experience, I don't want anyone else to make the same mistake as we did!

It is expected that you might have to wait for a table on a Saturday night. A 15 minute wait is fine, but once we are seated, I expect to be waited on. However, there were no waiters in sight. Finally, 15 minutes later, a waiter came to clean the table next to us. When I asked if he knew who our waiter was, he responded "What do you need?" That's no way to greet a table. What we needed was a waiter and at least something to drink while we were waiting. Eventually he got our drinks, then someone else came over to set our table, which wasn't even set with napkins or silverware. Then someone else took our order. We never got the appetizer that was ordered, yet it somehow appeared on the check! No one ever brought the second round of drinks we ordered and I had to go up to the counter and ask for them myself after 10 minutes of waiting. No one seemed to care about their service and never apologized for keeping us waiting so long.

I just cannot believe this place. I don't know how they are in business. There was no courtesy, organization, management or hospitality by any of the employees. It was a complete disaster and if my husband hadn't made such a special effort to take me there, I would have walked out after waiting 5 minutes at the table.

The food was OK, but we could not enjoy it after this disheartening experience!    [17 Feb 2004 15:05:37]

Don't Waste Your Time and Money
This place is expensive for what you get, and what you get ain't so great. In an area that is truly hurting for Indian restaurants, Namaskaar proves that poor quality can survive in a hungry market. But really good Indian food is not that far off. Namaskar gets all thumbs down.    [28 May 2004 20:17:16]

How Rude
It was my first date with the man I am about to marry. He works day and night but he took time off just so we could spend time together. He took me to Namaskaar restaurant. I'd never heard of it before, so I expected it to be good. Was I wrong! The wait for the table was fine (it was only five minutes) but the table was a mess. One would expect them to clean it up before showing the customer to the table, but they started cleaning it 15 minutes after we were seated and the just dumped all the crumbs and stuff on the floor! How disgusting! Then we waited one hour for the food. See, I'm not a picky eater, but guess what I found in my food? A nice long piece of black hair. I complained to the manager but he just said get another. How rude is that? I felt like punching that guy in the face. My date and I left that disgusting place as if our lives depended on it. But hey, we are nice people so we actually paid for the food, but we were far from giving them any tip whatsoever!    [30 Aug 2004 19:45:46]

We Enjoyed It
Interesting how the other reviews were so bad. Four of us went midweek in July 2004. It was not very crowded and service was fine. We all thought the food was very good, and plan to go again based on our experience.    [07 Oct 2004 17:36:58]

Middle of the Road
I've eaten lunch and dinner many times at Namaskaar and my title says it all. Ambiance is admittedly well ahead of most Indian restaurants (which still says it's below average), but the food is just mediocre. More meat dishes than average cater to American eating habits, but make this a questionable choice for traditional Indian devotees and vegetarians. And they're right about Namaskaar's rubber bread. Even though I'm a meat lover, I love good Indian cuisine because veggies can be tastier than meat if they are well prepared.    [14 Jan 2005 23:30:28]

Sucks, Big Time
Impolite staff, horrible food, no courtesy and respect towards their customers, both the waitstaff and the chef need some badly needed hospitality and cuisine training in earnest.    [19 Jan 2005 12:17:34]

OK with the Entertainment Coupon
We have been to Namaskaar a dozen times or more. Sometimes for the buffet, or with the Entertainment coupon for evening dinner. The buffet is not the best. But for the money it's worth it. With the coupon, the dinner is the better bet. While not top notch Indian cuisine, we've never had a bad meal there. And the staff has always been courteous. I don't understand that complaint. Oh well, maybe we've been lucky.    [03 May 2005 16:05:01]

Nearby Indian Restaurants Are Much Better
I second and third the "rudes" and raise you a cheap buffet - peas, lentils, shop-rite "can-can" special veggies and rice. Most places offer at least some paneer dishes and saag dishes with a buffet or some kind of mixed vegetables with a delicious sauce. This one truly sucks, and if you order on menu they are overpriced to boot. We live nearby and stopped going after our 2nd experience (we thought maybe they had an off day).

Trust me; I know good Indian food, and Namaaskar is not it.    [16 Jul 2005 12:40:51]

Nothing Special About Namaskaar
It is located in very convenient place, but the people who work there are not paid properly. That's the reason they look dull with low energy. The food can be rated low and the service is worse.    [09 Sep 2005 22:28:59]
