Passible
Big, Noisy, and Hot. Order off the menu for decent Portuguese/Spanish dishes, or go for the all-you-can-eat Rodizio. Either way you go, you'll do much better in the Ironbound Section of Newark.    [25 Nov 2003 15:14:14]

Are you kidding?
We always go in a group of 10 or more once a month to the Armory. We love the rodizo and many of us order a variety of food. The sangria is to die for.

Service is great but can be slow at times. Personnel are friendly.

Dinner at the armory is an adventure in dining.    [21 Aug 2004 14:45:20]

This place is better than "PASSIBLE" suggests. The Rodizio is fun, get some friends and give it a go.    [08 Nov 2004 15:16:51]

Seabra's Armory versus Seabra's Rodizio in Newark
Honestly, the Seabra's in Newark is a nicer restaurant if you want to sit inside. The Armory in Perth Amboy has one thing over Seabra's in Newark, it's that you can sit outside during the summer at the waterfront watching the people and boats pass by. But, the salad bar at the Armory is terrible! No choices at all! NOW, at Seabra's Rodizio in Newark, they have a two tier four sided table that is at least 15 feet by 6 feet with all kinds of cheese, olives, hot peppers, shrimp and Paella is free on the salad bar. Also, Seabra's Rodizio in Newark has exotic meats such as alligator, wild boar, ostrich and others as part of their Rodizio. Now come on people, wake up and smell the Rodizio. Newark's Seabra's Rodizio is a much better choice during the colder months and even the warmer months if you don't mind dining indoors. Both places use a lot of salt with their Rodizio cooking, so beware for those of you with high blood pressure as I have it. Drink lots of water to flush it out.    [06 Jan 2005 19:56:26]

Delicious coffee
This restaurant had the second-best cup of coffee I have ever had in my life, and I am a coffee snob. It was rich, dark, full-bodied without tasting burned or too thick, and it was served with cream warmed to the exact temperature of the coffee itself, so adding cream did not reduce the temperature of the coffee. One sip and it's really all I wanted to eat or drink for the rest of the meal. Oh, I had the fish of the day, too, which was also yummy: whole red snapper fried to perfection; just enough flesh to feed one person without being too much food. BTW, the absolute BEST coffee I ever had was at the Fog City Diner in San Francisco, CA, but unfortunately, that's a little out of the way to go on a daily coffee crawl.    [24 May 2005 16:09:53]

Good fun and great food!
We go several times a year to Seabra's Armory in Perth Amboy. We invite all our friends to join us in the fun of great food, excellent sangria and no pressure to "finish up and go". My husband LUSTS after the rodizio and never looks at a menu to decide what he wants! Seafood is good as well as the fresh fish. Salad bar needs some work. Staff is friendly, helpful and attentive. Go during the summer and sit outside! Lots to see!    [06 Jan 2006 20:14:07]

Horrible Service - Forgot my order?
We went with a group of 10 which was too much to handle, I guess. They forgot my order so I watched the other nine eat theirs. The manager refused to compensate me.

No Class. No free dessert. I'll only eat in Newark. Not worth it.    [19 May 2006 14:17:52]

I thought it was great
I thought the food was great and our waiter was on the ball.
I'm thinking about having my wedding there. These comments are getting me nervous though.    [16 Jan 2007 11:55:49]

Love the Rodizio!!!
I'm always pleased everytime I come to this restaurant. It isn't bad at all. It's actually very good. The view is great, and the atmosphere is amazing (on the outside)... I can't complain    [16 May 2007 16:22:41]

Really disappointed!
We have been going to The Armory for 15 years, since the Seabra's took ownership. I am so upset over the downhill spiral of one of our most favorite restaurants!!!

The service was absolutely terrible. We were seated and the waiter took the order for a pitcher of Sangria. He brought us the pitcher and did not bring glasses until we called over another waiter. The place was not busy - there were only 2 other tables occupied.

It took another 15 minutes until another waiter came to take our order.

The salad bar (which used to be one of the best ever) was soggy lettuce, the palest tomatoes (Jersey is known for the best ever tomatoes, obviously not in Perth Amboy). The tuna tasted sour and was inedible. Nothing else was even worth putting on the plate.

For appetizers, the chorizos were almost raw and very greasy. The calamari was so soggy and also inedible.

Dinner: almost an hour and 15 minutes before our dinner came! No bread brought out. Salmon special was completely dried out & my husband's chicken was raw.

The only thing good was the sangria. But, $230 for an inedible meal???    [04 Oct 2007 00:17:50]
