OK but not great This restaurant shares ownership with nearby Flavor Of India in Plainsboro. So, comments will probably apply to other units too.
I occasionally go to this restaurant for Lunch Buffet as it is quite close to my office. It costs $10.95 and there are reasonable choices for non-vegetarians (chicken (2), Mutton etc), but choices for vegetarians are very limited. Specifically, there is no decent vegetable for a non-meat eater on the buffet. They could at least serve Ghobi (cauliflowers), Bhindi (Okra), Saag Paneer (Spinach with Indian Cheese), Aloo Baingan, or something similar. It is very disappointing for vegetarians. For meat eaters, there are sufficent choices.
Taste wise, food is reasonable (average), but not great. It appears rather un-imaginatvely cooked. Good Indian restaurants use different and freshly mixed spices to vary flavour for each dish. The food, compared to other Indian restaurants, is rather bland and somewhat overcooked. I prefer Passage to India in Lawrenceville or Chutney Mary on Route 1 (more expensive and further away, but food is good.)
Service is fine and staff is attentive. [29 Dec 2004 17:38:55]

Best choice for Indian Cuisine I have been eating dinner at the Crown of India with my family and guests for a decade. Over that time, the food has been prepared with the freshest spices and with great attention to consistency and quality. Compared with most other local Indian restaurants, this one is head and shoulders above the rest.
The owner, Surindar, takes great pride in the quality of selections, and the waiters, who have been consistently hospitable and attentive over the years, will always ask the degree of "heat" you prefer your meal and make suggestions about entrees.
Bring your own wine or beer if you like. If you come there once, you'll return again. [20 Jun 2006 12:15:51]

Never a Bad meal here ! I've been to "THE CROWN " over 250 times in the past 11-12 years. With it's new expansion doubling the size from before, the room has been upgraded quite a bit.
Every year they have the "DIWALI" festival of lights celebration here as well, and I have been to at least 7 in a row now.
The food is consistently good, the help is cordial, and when you come as often as I have, they do throw in freebies with your dinners or give you a discount when you haven't even asked for it.
The food is VG+, the menu has nearly 100 entre choices as well. Something for everyone, veg or non-veg.
Give them a try and tell them that a guy named RANDY sent you (ME!) Like I said, at least 250 visits since 1995! [18 Oct 2006 13:07:10]

I don't like the food here! You don't get fresh food. It's all blended in same curry and probably 1-2 weeks old. However, all resturants in West Windsor / Plainsboro area are bad. [26 Dec 2006 19:45:58]

Good place, good people The food is quite good, but sometimes the ingredients are a bit old. I would recommend this restaurant for dinner, as the buffet is not great (I am vegetarian). [06 Apr 2007 17:51:25]

Crown shredz!!! Anyone complaining about Crown has no idea. Crown rocks. The buffet is affordable and service is friendly. The food is usually quite good and sometimes outstanding! If anyone wants really bad Indian go to Montana or Utah. Or cook your own. [09 Sep 2007 11:34:21]
