Italian 'wanna be' I went there with my family last year, and I was so disappointed. The place smelled weird, and the waiters were Spanish pretending to be Italian. The food wasn't that good, and the veggie spaghetti was so spicy I could not eat it. [27 Feb 2005 21:25:03]

Fabulous risotto and marvelous service To each his own... I love Mezzaluna and have dined there 5 or 6 times. It's inventive with cuisine and the appetizers like the Pumpkin Ravioli and the various types of Risotto are delicious [23 Jan 2006 15:06:49]

Exceedingly mediocre I suggested this place to a group because Teresa's was crowded, we didn't want to wait, and Mezzaluna had plenty of tables. Now I know there was a perfectly good reason for that. Where should I start -- Tried the calamari and one of the special appetizers with prawns, neither had any flavor besides balsamic vinegar. The capellini with crab was just plain underwhelming, and a little bit unevenly cooked. Nevertheless it looked better than my companions entrees, which seemed to be nothing but chicken breasts totally drenched in creamy sauce. I didn't taste theirs (it was a business meal), but no one complimented the food at any point. What was really inexcusable was the gelato dessert with polenta shortbread cookies, which, either because they were stale or improperly made, were as hard as sand dollars. The presentation was once again poor -- it was swimming in some kind of strawberry sauce garnished with a very diner-ish whipped cream and maraschino cherry. The Spanish speaking waiters pretending to be Italian are still there. The chairs were stained and the once trendy design just looked old at this point. Needless to say at $50/person excluding alcohol it is not worth it. [04 Apr 2007 08:55:40]
