Don't Judge a Book by its Cover
I have been happily indulging my thin-crust pizza fantasies at Kinchley's for over 10 years. Close your eyes if you must, for the decor is forgettable, but do not allow yourself to overlook the thinnest, tastiest pizza ever. Being a purist, I order my pizza plain (something poetic about not needing to "gild the lily" would sound good here) but others may embellish to their hearts' content. The waitstaff is friendly, if rushed, and on Friday nights the line can bulge dengerously near the restrooms, but do not miss this incredible pizza haven. They recently installed an ATM, so their "cash only" policy should not be a problem! Besides, you know that you'll never have to pick up the cost of the bounced checks and declined credit cards that other restaurants have to add to their overhead (that means that you and I pay it!) Thick-crust fanciers will need to go to other establishments to satisfy those cravings or they can order Italian or something deep-fried from the menu.
Try Kinchley's once and I guarantee that you will find yourself daydreaming about    [24 Mar 2002 10:35:28]

Little Slices of Heaven
I've been going to Kinchley's for 15 years, and have never had a less than great pizza. Personal faorite is the hot pepper pie. IT HURTS SO GOOD! They use hot cherry peppers, sliced, and it makes for an experience like no other.

Note - the birch beer and arugala salad are perfect adds to a meal here

Decor - dark and woody, great for an old pizza and italian food joint. Get ready to rub elbows...    [20 Oct 2002 11:32:00]

Service ruins the food
Even though the pizza is very good, the service and ambiance ruin the food. The managers are fairly incompetent, and the hostess who takes the reservation has absolutely no idea how to complete the transaction. I had been going there for 3 years and after the last experience I had, I will never go again.    [01 Nov 2002 15:28:22]

We need a Kinchley's in California
I was in NJ for a week on business. I was craving some good pizza and asked one of the guys in the office where to go. He said to jump in his truck and he would take me the the best thin crust pizza around. We arrived at Kinchley's around 8pm on a Tuesday. The parking lot was full. There was three of us and we each ordered a large pizza. I ordered the Fra Diavolo which was the most incredibly delicious spicy tomato sauce I have ever had on a pizza. It wasn't too spicy but had just enough kick in it to add a little excitement to my tastebuds. My pizza had one half just cheese and the other half with sausage, black olives and onions.
I washed it down with what the locals call an "F" beer. It's a German Weiss or wheat beer served with a slice of lemon. The combination was perfect. I spoke to the manager and said that he could pack 7 pizzas with dry ice and have them delivered to my home in California. I am drooling as I write this just thinking about the best tasting thin crust pizza I have ever had. I would call and order them now but I don't think anyone is there at 2:30 in the morning.    [21 Nov 2002 02:08:13]

Best thin pie in the tri-state area
The first place I drove to with my license. Went there with dates for years. The only thing I asked for after delivering my first child. I live over an hour away in NY State. Anyone going to NJ must stop and bring home a few pies. We still go there for birthdays. It is a family favorite.

My oldest kid is now 18 and drives down to get my pies.

Will say that the place is always packed. And the decor hasn't changed in my lifetime. I still see the same tables I sat at as a child. My parents used to go there on dates. I have been told the decor has been the same since it opened.

Remember this is a PIZZA Place with a bar not an elegant resturant. Go in jeans, let your hair down, muddy boots type of place.    [25 Jan 2003 14:54:56]

This pizza is so awesome. I don't understand why people are commenting on the cleanliness of the place. I mean, come on now, let's not forget it is a bar. It's one of the cleanest bars i've been to in a while.    [11 Jul 2003 00:08:09]

Great thin crust pizza
The pizza is fantastic... just call in your order, pick it up, and go home. Dining there really takes away from the experience. The service ranges from "okay" to "rude." And it is a bar, so it is pretty smokey, so if you're like me, you'll take-out and go home to a smoke-free dining room. But like I said, the pizza is really delicious -- a must have!    [01 Dec 2004 13:53:25]

Great meatballs!
This restaurant doesn't have the greatest ambience but the wait staff is generally friendly and the meatballs are wonderful!!! Plus, it is very reasonable. Being a college student, I feel that I get great value for my money!!    [06 Dec 2004 21:43:12]

For 38 years of my life, the best Pizza
I am nearly 59 years old and have been enjoying the pepperoni pizza here whenever I am in the area. From the "bar pie" to the "large", they all taste great. Friends tell me that they serve entrees other than pizza! Seriously, why would I want something else when I have been raving to people all over the country that this is the place for the best thin crust pizza in the country. The parking lot is on the east side and all you have to do is open your car door and the aroma from the kitchen will tell you that you are about to enter pizza heaven! The service can be better and the decor is old, but so what. There is an interesting collection of model trains in glass cases that separate the bar from the main room. Come casual, bring cash and forget all else but your "mission", to have the best thin crust pizza in the U.S. I now live in Virginia, but always plan one meal here whenever I can get to the NJ area.    [07 Aug 2005 16:10:41]

Best Pizza Nationwide
I have traveled all over the United states and have finally settled just down the road from Kinchley's. I admit, it's a dive. But it's the best pizza I've ever had! The atmosphere definitely caters to the small-town crowd, but in a way that adds to its cozy charm. It's small, dark, smokey, and always has a few friendly people sitting at the bar. And it's well worth whatever wait there might be. My suggestion: call ahead for take-out. They are fast and and the food is delicious.    [13 Feb 2006 23:04:52]
