Description
Small, crowded, and a bit noisy, the Country Pancake House is famous for its gigantic portions. The menu is huge, containing virtually everything, but breakfast is the most popular attraction. Does not accept credit cards.

Monstrous portions! I ordered the lemon, poppy-seed pancakes, and they were delicious. My portion could have served a family of four, but they reheat well so I did not mind. The fresh squeezed apple juice was also very good.
I would discourage someone from ordering the eggs because the portion is so large.
The fresh baked cornbread on the table was a nice surprise, and it was not too sweet.
Definitely get there early for breakfast on the weekends. [09 May 2002 13:33:06]

Rubba dub dub... When I saw the monstrous proportions, my first thought that came to mind was... are they trying to compensate for something... like the taste... But I was wrong. It was magnificent. I know that I am an average Joe... hence my name but you can't get something like this and feel like it was worth it. [25 Mar 2003 11:10:06]

Incredible Being from around the Ridgewood area I have eaten here many times and it seems like the food here just keeps getting better and better everytime I go. There is every type of pancake and breakfast dish imaginable. If you want something and it is not there, pat yourself on the back and call yourself "Unique" and "Different." [27 Mar 2004 15:40:36]

Pancakes bigger than your head! My husband and I first went to the CPH in 2001 when we went to visit a high school friend of mine. At least once or twice a year since then, we have made a conscious effort to return to this Breakfast Mecca of Ridgewood. My husband (who, let me tell you, is an EATER) is unable to finish even ONE of the two large pancakes. (Of course, he can't resist the chocolate chip cornbread starter or the home fries on the side...) I personally love the fruit options, for both the pancakes and the waffles. They are willing to make substitutions if you don't see a combination that you like in the over-100 choices on the menu. My recommendation: if you're very hungry, go ahead and go for the 2 large. If you want a nice-sized breakfast, go for the 4 silver-dollars. If your goal is to finish the 2 large, then get buttermilk only. (No fruits, nuts, or chocolate chips!) By the way... I hear rumors of a single, table-sized pancake... unheard of! Don't be scared off by the crowds at the door... it's that good. Definitely worth the wait. [18 Aug 2004 23:14:25]

Excellent food, huge portions, but VERY understaffed and disorganized I absolutely LOVE the food here, but they can definitely use a new waitress and more attentive bussers. The portions are huge and the taste is fantastic, but although I usually go on a Tuesday when it isn't so crowded, I tend to wait for my food for like 30 minutes. I have a family of four and they never bring the proper amount of place settings and the waitress seems to be the ONLY waitress. Aside from that (seems like alot!) I love it there. Bigger isn't always better! My family of 4 were all disappointed with the food here. The pancakes were flavorless with large amounts of your choice of toppings on and in some cases in the pancakes. The place is small, crowded and disorganized. My 5 year old said it best! "Next time we go to IHOP, OK?" Not worth the drive! [05 Feb 2006 07:58:55]

Simply amazing Our family of 5 went on sunday, yes it was crowded, yes we had to wait, but it was well worth it. The waitress was fantastic, anticipated our needs before we could ask. The bussers were very attentive. The food was the best, and the portions were huge! (we now have pancakes for the next week) [20 Feb 2006 18:17:18]

A great place to eat I had the french toast with pineapples and blueberries, and I loved them. Keep up the good work. [08 Dec 2006 07:14:27]
