Great New Addition The Silver Oak is a great resturant. The food is something very unexpected for Ridgewood. For example, their signature dish is shrimp and grits. The restaurant is very cleanly decorated, the walls are a pale green, with beautiful hanging chandeliers that hang over the table. They have a black and white photos of oak trees, which give off the look of a silver oak. The decor is very predictable, until you look at the wall to see an American flag light switch.
The food was wonderful; the entree came with a bistro salad that was served with very pretty looking tomatoes. The chocolate creme pie dessert was like a chocolate lava flow, it was absolutely delicious. For my appetizer I had the amazing shrimp and grits. For my entree I had Rags and Fungus, a quirky name for a wonderful dish. The pasta was made in the kitchen, and served with mushrooms.
There is light jazz music playing in the background. The wait staff was always around, and struck up conversation very easily. The chef even made his rounds and introduced himself to me. This is a very great addition to Ridgewood. [08 Nov 2005 19:22:36]

A Break from the Predictable Worth the trip at twice the 50-mile ride! Truly a break from the ordinary! Start with a bruschetta you won’t want to share and move on to the shrimp and grits with Kenucky ham and red eye gravy! I shared a little with my wife and had the crabby chicken with lump crab, Cajun chicken boudin sausage, apple-slaw and herb coulis. Wow! I found myself tasting something new in each bite and the combination was unique and satisfying.
Prepare yourself for the utmost in quality ingredients and presentation. The craw-cat-fish was an unexpected and exceptional entrée lightly wrapped in a straw potato crust and stuffed with crab. My wife had the snapper and was equally amazed at the ensemble of spaghetti squash and hint of orange with herb. A very relaxed and pleasant environment with attentive and friendly staff. Conversation is easy in this calm and unhurried atmosphere where nice background music plays and you feel comfortable as soon as you sit down. Finish with one of the outstanding, desserts du jour and you will have had yourself a most memorable dining experience. [21 Nov 2005 11:15:16]

A Wonderful Experience My wife and I have tested the various culinary elements of Northern New Jersey since moving to the area almost two years ago; and the Silver Oak Bistro has won our Top Restaurant award. An unbeatable confluence of ambience, taste, and service create a unique dining experience from start to finish. We created our own tasting menu by sampling the various appetizer dishes and were blown away by each one. We absolutely loved this restaurant and highly recommend it. [26 Dec 2005 01:43:38]

What a Wonderful Restaurant My family and I had an amazing dinner here Saturday night. We all loved it. The food is interesting, delicious and perfectly prepared. Our waiter, Brad, was extremely attentive, funny, professional and charming. The desserts were all out of this world and definitely worth the calories. All this wonderfulness in such a small space, how do does chef Gary do it? We will be back for sure! [08 Jan 2006 08:14:49]
