Owner Knows Nothing About Customer Service We were told the Harvest Moon Inn had good food and would be a great place for an anniversary dinner. We weren't told how bad the customer service was -- or that it was dictated by the restaurant owner!
We were seated a few minutes early for a 6:30 Saturday night reservation (a reservation for which we had noted it was our anniversary when we made it) -- no one else was seated near us at the time. We got our wine (which they don't leave at the table so you are at the mercy of your waiter/waitress to come back and pour more) and soup and salad right away. Other tables were filling up around us. People were getting there food. At 7:30 we asked our waitress if our food would be coming as we noticed those seated after us had already received theirs. Her reply was "I hope so." No apology. No explanation. She walked away.
When our food arrive at 7:40 (two tables seated after us had already finished and left) we asked the waiter to mention this to the manager. She told us she had already said something to the owner and asked that the owner stop by and talk to us.
The owner did stop by a few minutes later (after we saw her talking to our waitress) and asked what the problem was. Even though she obviously knew we explained that we had received our food much later than others around us who were seated later. We were unhappy with that service, particularly since it was our anniversary. I kid you not -- she didn't apolotize. She instead said "Well, it depends on what you order. And you really only had to wait a little over an hour. Are you in a hurry or something?"
We were both so taken aback we couldn't even speak for a moment. My husband finally said he couldn't believe that was how she would respond to the situation, and I said that she was really making a bad situation worse. She had asked what we expected her to do about it. I asked her in return what did she think she should do about it? She just walked away.
The waitress finally returned and asked if the owner had talked to us. I said yes but "was that really the owner because I had never encountered anyone quite so rude." The waitress did apologize this time.
Neither one of us felt like finishing our food -- which was mediocre at best. It was a memorable anniversary dinner -- what I'll remember is never to go to Harvest Moon Inn. [29 Jan 2006 14:32:55]

Excellent service. The spinach salad was delicious, its dressing was light, not overpowering. [08 Oct 2006 20:49:06]

Wonderful Restaurant, Great Service We had a most enjoyable dinner at this restaurant a few evenings ago. The service was friendly without being overbearing; and the food was delicious and attractively presented. The inn is quaint, a perfect place to enjoy a romantic dinner.
Unless things have changed drastically in a year, I can't imagine what Dana from Princeton was complaining about... maybe just a bad day at the inn... or, maybe the service was 'slow' because it was assumed that a couple celebrating their anniverary would like to enjoy an unhurried meal (I certainly would).
Our experience was far better. I will return if I'm back in the area. This place is a treasure! [24 May 2007 19:31:30]
