Description

Romantic, intimate atmosphere with amazing take-me-away atmosphere inside its home-like interior and outside in its small garden. Despite being on busy Us Hwy 28, it's still quiet inside. About 80 people can be inside maximum with carpeting and hushed tones keeping things quiet. An introductory bread basket and olive oil are included.

Big Disappointment
02/24/2002
I knew we were getting engaged on Valentines Day and I looked online for a romantic restaurant. The service was terrible, you had to be wait a long time to even be noticed and when the waiter came he made it clear he could have cared less. The food was cold and mediocre. We got engaged there and promised each other that we would never go back. Big flop in our eyes on a very important night for us.    [24 Feb 2002 22:37:39]

Another persepective!
While we have only dined at La Scala twice, both evenings were quite exceptional. The service was personal. When busy, the meals can come out at a leisurely pace, but they are certainly worth the wait. One entree came out slightly cool, but it was immediately returned to the kitchen and delivered satisfactorily.

The hosts are gracious, and the effort put into the preparation and service was obvious.

Certainly worth a visit, even a second one if the first didn't meet expectations.    [13 Dec 2002 21:04:15]

Are You Kidding? It's Great!
Everything I have ever had at La Scala has been wonderful, from romantic dinners in, to dinners ordered and taken home to eat. Memorable unusual entrees are recited in detail by the staff, and include wild game, fresh fish and imaginative pastas. Chef Omar will whip up fresh chocolate fondant dessert off the menu if you ask. You will not see many children in this upscale restaurant, however, children are welcomed; with my three week old baby, we were able to celebrate my husband's birthday at La Scala on a weeknight- the restaurant was able to seat us in a private room upstairs so that baby could even nurse if needed.    [11 Feb 2004 10:15:27]

A BIG disappointment
We made a reservation for 4 people on a Saturday evening, based on a friend's recommendation. When we arrived we were seated promptly. The waiter gave us our menus and came back almost immediately to take our order. We told him that we wanted to relax a while and enjoy the drinks we had brought along. After that, we were toally ignored. It was like we had become invisible. After a very long wait we were able to convince our waiter to come over and take our order. My ravioli stuffed with butternut squash appetizer was delicious. After another very long delay our main courses arrived. I ordered shrimp stuffed with crabmeat. My plate had three puny shrimp with some side vegatables on huge plate. It might have been OK as an appetizer. I expressed my dissatisfaction to the waiter and he just shrugged his shoulders and did nothing to satisfy me. Another very long wait. We never got to order dessert or coffee. We might still be there! Suffice it to say that we were there for 3 hours without dessert or coffee.    [02 Dec 2005 18:00:00]

Exotic dishes in a great atmoshphere
Our party of six got to try a lot of the wonderful dishes at this place last Saturday night. Though it was busy, service was excellent and the food was incredible. For the non-adventorous, there are plenty of classic favorites but this restaurant also features the likes of kangaroo, ostrich, buffalo and plenty of fresh fish.

Looking forward to our next visit!    [21 Mar 2006 09:30:05]
